Carlos, however, was staring at the bouquet in Alex’s hands.
This was a clinic. Someone walking in with flowers clearly wasn’t here for treatment.
Another suitor for his sister, Carlos thought. At least this one looked better than Joaquin—easier on the eyes. But his hands were still wrapped in gauze, injured.
“Sir, who are you looking for?” Carlos asked, standing and putting on a polite smile.
“Hello,” Alex said. “Does Doctor Aitana live here?”
While Carlos studied Alex, Alex was studying him. Seeing the resemblance to Aitana, Alex guessed he must be her brother. Aitana’s biological brother didn’t live in Wiltspoon, but some of her cousins did. The youngest was still in high school.
“Who are you?” Carlos didn’t answer right away.
