Alex had a reason. He knew Aitana had two admirers — a classmate and an older colleague, both doctors.
Although he spoke confidently to his brothers, he still worried she might choose one of them. He wanted to cut off any budding romance before it grew serious.
“What happened?” Alex asked quietly.
“This morning a man showed up at the Pollock family clinic with a bouquet of roses,” the bodyguard reported. “It was Dr. Pollock’s senior, Joaquin Legare. I spent the day checking into him before calling.”
He explained why Joaquin had gone to the clinic, how long he stayed, and what happened.
“Dr. Pollock didn’t accept the bouquet,” the bodyguard concluded. “It looked like she was rejecting his confession.”
