“I’m working nights now,” Aitana said with a smile. “Mr. York, your injuries are healing nicely. If you want, you can be discharged.”
“I can’t go home until I’m fully healed,” Alex replied. “If I do, the elders will find out about my car accident and injuries. My grandmother is elderly, and I don’t want her to worry.
I haven’t even told my parents. Only my brothers know, and they’re helping me keep it quiet from the older generation.”
He glanced at his hands, still wrapped in gauze. “They’re almost healed, but typing or writing still hurts. Even if I go home, I can’t work yet. I’d rather stay here until my hands completely recover.”
Aitana gave an understanding smile. With the York family’s resources, it was no problem for Alex to remain in the hospital until he was fully recovered.
“Mr. York, I’ll go change into my scrubs,” she said. “I need to hand over my shift soon.”
Alex nodded, smiling as he watched her walk toward her office.
