Her expression darkened. “But they never once admitted that they were failing us as parents. Children aren’t born knowing everything. They need teaching, guidance, companionship. Unfortunately, to our parents, business was always more important than us.”
She paused, memories flickering in her eyes.
“I’ll never forget when I was in my last year of junior high. It was almost graduation, and there was a parent-teacher meeting. Normally, our butler would attend in their place. But that time, my parents promised they’d come.
I was so happy… so excited. I waited and waited, but as the room filled with other parents, mine still hadn’t shown up. My heart sank. Finally, I borrowed the teacher’s phone and called my dad.
