Chapter 26 Kian pov
We said goodbye to Cannon and five of my warriors yesterday, they left in two cars to go to the city where the photo was taken.
I trust cannon! There isn’t anyone better and I know if anyone can find her it’s him.
My office phone starts ringing when I am in the middle of going through the packs around the city, if she is in one of those packs we will find her.
Picking up the phone It’s Cannon who calls.
“We have arrived and the cars are here so we are going to the first pack.How many are there?” He asks
“three packs that we know of and actually the new pack Is one of them.I will send you the addresses and information you might need” I tell him.
“Okay! I will call you when I know anything more” he says and we hang up the phone.
Half the day goes by and I have a lot to do.
We couldn’t find anything more on white wolfs and we have been going true her family tree.We came up with nothing from that too.
My men went through the passengers on every bus and train from when she disappeared but not a trace.
There is something we are missing! Declan walks into my office when Cannon calls again.
“Kian there is something strange here,” he says
“What is?”
I don’t get what he is meaning.
“We found nothing at the first pack then we went to the new pack and there is nothing here! Just a swamp.” he says and I raise my eyebrow.
“Are you sure it’s the right place?”
I have to ask him it sounds so strange.
“Yes I am sure, wait a minute I’ll send you my coordinates and a photo of where I stand.” my phone vibrates and I look at the photo and the location.
“Yes you are at the right place.It should be there!”
“as you can see it’s not” he states.
“Alright I will go and check the letters and talk to you later,” I tell him
“we will head over to the next pack in the meantime,” he says and we hang up the phone.
I get up from my chair and head out of the office.
Declan follow me out “where are you going and what’s the problem? “
“ The new pack wasn’t at the location.Cannon was there and it was only a swamp.I need to check the letters from the pack” I say while I keep walking.
Declan follows behind.
“ That was strange,” he says
“Yes something isn’t right”
It takes a couple of minutes to go to the office where we keep all registration of packs in our country.
Walking inside we head over to the secretary and he helps us get the letters, and it’s a lot of letters.
Over two hundred and not even half of them are open.
It will take hours to go through them all.We head back with the letters to my office and start opening them.
It’s late in the evening when we are done with the letters, from everything we have been reading the pack is quite big.
There is a problem though, the alpha has registered the address Cannon was at since there wasn’t anything there something doesn’t add up.
The Alphas name is also a mystery, it only signed with S.carter
“What do you think Kian? I feel something is not right” Declan says
“Something is really of about this pack.All these letters that haven’t been opened by the register since he thought the Alpha had a screw loose, and just let it be.If the numbers are right we are talking about one of the biggest packs outside of this kingdom and none have seen or heard anything about it.If it’s not located there where could it be? Or doesn’t it exists? I have to call Cannon “
I say and try to reach him a couple of times but his phone doesn’t come through guessing he is where the service is bad.
“Let’s call it tonight, he will call back tomorrow and we have a lot to do with the training in the morning,” Declan says
“ go ahead I will finish this up and then head to bed”he gets up and say goodnight then he leaves the office and I start to gather all the letters.Putting them in a box so it is easier to find them the next time.
Something is bothering me and I sit down with the computer.
Pulling up a map of the area the pack should be located at.
All I see from the map are trees.
It’s located in the woods but there isn’t a swamp on the map.
The picture is taken of the woods four years ago, but how it could be a swamp in these four years I don’t know.I try calling Cannon one last time before I decide to head up and take a shower before bed.I can’t stop thinking about what we are missing, I need to ask Cannon to head over to the location again.
He needs to have a look around.I am about to sleep when my phone is ringing and finally Cannon calls.
“ I hadn’t any service when you called before, we have been through the last two packs now and there is nothing new and none of them have ever heard of another pack in this area.But there have been some pack members that have left the packs to follow a relative to a new pack but they have no idea to where they have gone” he says
“All this is strange! We have gone through all the letters and they only say the location you were at.I looked up the area on the maps and before it was a large wood, not a swamp.I need you to go back tomorrow and swipe the area”
“Alright we will! tomorrow I a going to start in town and look for the photographer and se if there is any list of the guests at the event.I call you tomorrow when I have more information”
“That’s good Cannon ” we hang up and I put the phone next to me.
I hope he finds something useful tomorrow.
If he doesn’t I might have to go over there by myself, I know my wolf would pick up the smallest scent of our mate if she is there.
Chapter 27 Selena pov
The next day when I woke up early, I instantly went out and run around our grounds and into the woods.
I took my time to go make sure there wasn’t anything unusual.I didn’t pick up the scent again and eventually, I went back home.
The scouts were on high alert the whole night and they would keep a close watch throughout the day.
Everyone was going to stay behind the barrier as a precaution.
Today I needed to go to work there is a lot happening at work and I need a head start so I was up real early to head over.
Jessie and Zoey were also going to work today and we decided to go home together, they work at the front desk and I often have to work later than them.
When I arrive at work I am the first one on our floor and I love the time alone.
Starting up the computer I went through my mail, it took me quite some time and I was in the middle of it when my secretary walked in with a cup of coffee.
“There are a couple of phone calls today, I have the list here of all that wants to come in contact with you,” she says and places the coffee down on my desk and gives me the list.
Looking at it I sigh and know this will take most of my day going through.
“then we start from the bottom of the list! Call them and put it through to me when they are ready” I tell her
“Yes of course ” she walks out of the office and soon the phone connects to me.
The day flies by and I haven’t noticed what time it is when I end the last call for the day.
Hearing someone clearing their throat I look up from my desk and see Elijah standing at the door with a paper in his hand.
I can’t help but blush when I see him, he notices and his lips turn up in that beautiful smile of his.He walks over to me and leans down behind and whispers in my ear.
“I would love to se more of that blushing”
His words sent my cheeks crimson red and would love to hide my face in my hands right now.
“can I help you with something!”
I try to sound hard but my words come out in a seductive whisper and not even I could take my words seriously.
“I know a lot of things you could help me with,” he says with a husky voice and my words get stuck in my throat.
I have no idea how to handle a situation like this.It’s all new to me.
“I’m sorry Elijah but I am supposed to meet my friends downstairs in a little while, did you want something before I go?”
I need him to stop and go back to what it used to be.
Nothing can ever happen between us again.
“I want you” he says and winks at me.
Fuck! he actually had to say just that.
I feel a shiver run down my spine and my head is spinning.I’m lucky my Secretary walks in and breaks this awkward moment.
“Is that all for today?” She asks me
“Yes I think we are done, you can go home,” I say to her and she takes her to leave.
I mindlink Jessie and Zoey to come up to my office and help me leave if Elijah won’t go.I’m afraid I don’t know how to get out of this situation.
“I came here to show you something,” He says and hands mea finance magazine.
“What’s this?” I ask him and when he opens it up my heart is about to pound out of my chest.
“What’s happening?”
Jessie mindlinks me.She feels my panic through the pack bond.
“Get to my office and you will se for yourself ” I mindlink back.
I have a hard time to try and act normal.
In the magazine, my face is shown in the background.
There is no way anyone wouldn’t recognize me if they saw me.
Even If I am in the background of the picture my ice blue dress and my long blond hair become the center of the picture.
How could this have happened I made sure to dodge every photographer that evening.
“ You look so beautiful, I am thinking of calling the magazine and se if they got any more photos of you.I want to frame it” the panic I felt when he said that, it would mean anyone could find out where I was.
I need to get a grip on the situation.
Jessie and Zoey come bursting through my office door ready to fight whoever is in here to hurt me.
When they se me they calm down.
“Is there any problem?” Elijah says with a raised eyebrow at their suddenly bursting into the office.
“We were just worried something has happened since you didn’t meet us downstairs” Jessie is quick to save the situation.
“Everything is just fine.I was held up by looking at a photo of me and Elijah in the finance magazine ” I say and point down to the magazine at my desk.
They both immediately understand what I try to tell them and they walk over to us.
My hands are sweating and I am panicking at this.
“Elijah do you know how far this magazine reaches?” I have to ask.
“I know it’s sold all over the country but most people reading it works with finance.However, I have seen an ad on the internet about it so maybe more people are reading it now”
When he said that all the colors on my face are drained.
This can’t be happening!
“Why did you ask?”
He wonders “Nothing I haven’t seen it before that’s just why I asked”
I lie to him.
I have read it many times before but I have no idea how big the magazine is.
It would mean that anyone could se it and if they know me they would instantly recognize me in the photo.
Chapter 28 Selena pov
I can’t take my eyes off the photo and dread what will happen if he finds me.Well we need to head home,” Jessie says.
And I am suddenly aware of the possibility they could already be on their way here if they wanted to find me.
Oh, fuck! A shiver runs through my body.
I can’t let anything happen to get the pack revealed.
Their safety is my priority!
“Yes you are right just let me get my things,” I say and get up from my chair.
“I’ll walk you down,” Elijah says and I hoped he could walk away.
“There is no need,” I say to him and hope he gets it.
“I want to, I can keep you company a little while,” he says and holds up the door for us.
I sigh! I take my bag and we walk out of my office.
“Could this go any worse than it already does ” I mindlink Jessie and Zoey.
Can’t speak my mind in Elijah’s presence.
“We just need to get home and figure it out”
Jessie mindlink back.
When we get in the elevator I and Elijah stand behind Jessie and Zoey and he put his hand on my back and leans down and gives me a brief kiss on my cheek.
I feel my head start to spin off all this stress.
The elevator comes to stop and I can hardly walk out.
It’s still sunny outside and I put on my sunglasses.If I just could get home and hide from everyone.
My eyes and ears are on the surrounding all the time and I can’t focus on what Elijah and Zoey are talking about.
Jessie and Zoey understood what needed to be done without me saying anything.
Zoey keeps Elijah busy with talking me and Jessie are constantly scanning the area around us.
That’s when I pick up that faint scent I recognized from yesterday and now all my senses are on high alert.
Zoey and Jessie are aware of me and quickly say goodbye to Elijah telling him we need to take another way home.
I just say goodbye and walk between two buildings, they follow me in and I mindlink them.
“We need to split up and you two know what to do and how you get home.We have these emergency escape roads for this.Get home and alert everyone back home”I tell them
“Are you going to be fine”
Jessie mindlink back “I will be alright but we all know it’s me they want if they are looking for anyone and I need to lure them away from us! Just go! I will be fine.Take my bag with you if I need to shift fast”
Zoey takes my bag and we go our separate ways.
I now they will be fine.
We have practiced for this many times and their escape ways are completely hidden and no one will be able to follow.I just need them to follow me! I walk out of the houses, heading over to the woods on the other side of the city.
The furthest away from my pack possible.I sense someone following me, they are wolves.
It feels like four wolves but could be more.I keep walking.
Don’t turn around If they are not sure and would leave me alone.
After a while, I understand they will not let me go and they keep walking closer.
I speed up hoping to have some more space between us but they are bigger than me and can easily walk faster.
When I am about to leave the city and enter the woods two more wolves step out in front of me and cut off my way.I turn my steps to the side and walk to the left instead.I get a big sniff of the wolves now and there is no question.
It’s the kings and when I turn my head over my shoulder I recognize one of them.
It’s his Gamma and I already had the pleasure to meet him before.He could order me to stop and I would have to obey because he is of a higher rank than me since Iam not marked.
I do have a surprise tho.
But I don’t want to reveal my secret yet, and this time he won’t get the chance to capture me.I know this place and just a couple of more steps and no one beside us will se me when we shift.I guess they are not certain it’s really me and they wait to se what I will do.
Well then good for you boys! Youareinforarun! 1 The next step I take we shift in mid-air and make a run for it.
I hear them shift behind us but we just keep running.I guess he has sent some of his best men and this will be a run for all we got.
We just need to lure them away a bit.
One wolf comes up next to us and we hit it and he goes flying into a tree.
We dodge under a fallen tree and a wolf comes from the air and tries to land on us but we kick him in his stomach and he glides away on the forest floor.
Running faster to try and shake the rest off me! I hear a big wolf catching up to us and I guess it’s the gamma.
He tries to get a hold of our leg and we get a chance to kick him in his head.
Putting a great deal of strength in that kick and he glides away on his side and hit a three with his head, making him unconscious.
The other wolves are a little bit behind so we take this chance and escape.
Running behind a big tree and heading over to a passage on the side of a cliff by the water we have our escape.
Shifting back once we reach the pack house, I run inside to see if Jessie and Zoey are back and safe.
Chapter 29 Kian pov
I have been waiting for Cannon’s report the whole day.
The morning started with training and a few hours later I had expected to hear from him but all I got was a text saying he needed to meet a few people and would call me later.
The day has been dragging and I have been avoiding my father for days now.
Don’t want to meet him and tell him about my mate yet.I know when he finds out he will be furious, can’t blame him.I made a mistake all those years ago, I could have handled it much better than I did.
Declan opens the mindlink.
“your dad is waiting in your office”
“Just the person I don’t want to meet yet” I answer
“Well, he is your problem now! I head over to the borders and check the warriors ” he cut the mindlink and I seriously thought to ignore my father and go somewhere else.
But I know he will not let me be.
Walking over to the castle I head over to my office, opening the door I see him sitting at my chair and looking through a map and I know it’s the information about Selena.
“avoiding me son”
“no just a lot to handle right now” I lie to him.
“found out anything more about your mate? How could she just disappear?” He asks
“We are doing everything to find her! When you are here, do you know anything about white wolves?”
Trying to make him focus on something else than her and if he has any information on white wolves I would like to know.
“hmm, why do you ask?”
“just that one has been spotted and we are trying to find some more information” I lie to him
“They usually have special gifts but you should ask your mother about this.She use to gather information about white wolves, she found them interesting and always wanted to meet one” he says
“maybe I should talk to her but it has to be another day.I am waiting for a report”
I would like for her to tell me all she knows after I get the call from Cannon.
“Then come by for dinner someday”
“yes I will when I have time” right now I have to do everything I can to find her and bring her here.
I will figure out the rest later on.
“Alright son I will head home, come by when you have time,” he says
“I will” he leaves the office and I sigh in relief.
My dad was a great king when he ruled, the day he let me take over was a week before my mate died and when I was lost in grief he stepped in again and helped me out until I was ready to go back.
I know he wants the best for me and my parents have been a great support through it all but there is no way I can tell him about my mess up with my second chance mate right now.
I need to find a way to fix it first.
My phone starts ringing and I pick it up, finally, Cannon is calling.
“It took you long,” I tell him the moment the phone connects.
“Well we run into some problem” he answers reluctantly.
“What problem?” I ask and sit back in my seat.
“Your mate! Let me tell you Something.You will have your hands full with that one” he says and chuckles
“Tell me what happened!”
“We found her! We weren’t sure if it was her because she didn’t have any scent and that is weird”
We had found out she came with one of two companies so we split up and observed through the day, watching everyone coming and going.
Then she steps out with two other females and a man from one of the buildings.
We couldn’t pick up any scent from the females so we started following them.
They split up and we kept our distance at first following her to the woods, where she suddenly shifted and made a run for it.
We had a hard time following her and she easily took us out if we came too close
“He stops talking and I know there is something he don’t want to tell me.And then what?” I ask
“Well she didn’t hurt anyone of us just kept us away from catching her,” he says
“What are you not telling me?” I ask and hear him sigh and I know whatever it is he is not proud of it
“She took me out like It wasn’t even hard” I can’t help but burst out laughing at him.”
You mean a little girl took out the big bad wolf! I have seen a lot of men trying to even scratch you and you easily take them down and now you are telling me she could have you on your knees”
I keep laughing when Declan walks in.He stops in the doorway with a surprised expression on his face.
“What is it?” He asks
“Apparently my little mate took down Cannon!”
I answer him, he bursts out laughing and I hear on the phone how Cannon huffs.
This has probably hurt his self-confidence a little.
“Well where is she now?” I ask
“That we don’t know, when I woke up again she was gone and the trace ends on a cliff”
“What!? She can’t just disappear again” I say and look up at the sealing.
“We have found out she is working in one of the companies, she is in the top of employes.Working with shares and handling big accounts.The address she has registered at her work goes to a post box.So she is obviously hiding where she lives”
I am shocked by what he is telling me, and in the meantime I am impressed.
I know she didn’t finish school since I ordered her away but never in my imagination could I ever think she would have done so great by herself.
“What do you want us to do, she knows we are here and will probably hide if she doesn’t run”
“She is smart.Let’s play a different game with her.Wait by the phone I will call you back” I say and hang up the phone.
Chapter 30 Selena pov
When I got home yesterday booth Zoey and Jessie were already home, safe and sound.
I could relax a bit but now we have another problem.
They have figured out I wasn’t dead and found me.
How much they know I have no idea but since I felt the scent outside our land I know they have been here and looked at the front where our warehouse is.
None of our warriors have picked up anything strange and we have to be extra cautious.I can’t have them find our pack.I had to call my boss today and say I would be working from home.
Saying I had a bad headache and wouldn’t be able to answer my phone.
They could email me if they wanted to reach me.I will have to come up with something.
If they have found where I work, then I can’t go back.I am deep in my thoughts when Jessie comes walking into my office.
“ I have sent out some men to look for the king’s people.” she says
“That’s s good we need to know where they are all the time”
“What are you going to do about work?”
“ I don’t know yet, I need to figure something out”
I pinch the bridge of my nose, feeling frustrated over this whole situation.
Why do they have to come here and ruin everything good I have going on? It’s clear I need to break the bond, then he would leave me alone.
“I need to speak with Emma.Mindlink when they have any news”
She nods and walk out the door.
I know where Emma is at this hour of the day and It would feel nice with a walk I head out of my office and make my way to our herbal garden, I like to go there, it’s always peaceful.
I find her standing in the middle picking some herbs.
“ knew I would find you here”
“Yes I am not hard to find,” she says with a chuckle.
Let me guess you want to know If I have any suggestions on how you can get rid of your sexy mate.But since he is obviously looking for you he might have a change of heart “ she says
“Or he just wants to pester my life and lock me up in a room.Mark me so he gets stronger and never let me out again” I sarcastically say
“And that would stop you?” she says and look at me.

“ I hear you.And I know what he has done to you and your family.It wasn’t right and you have all the right to be mad at him.But maybe he has changed” she says and goes back to picking herbs.
“don’t care if he has changed, I hate him for all the things he has done and I will never accept him as my mate” she sighs.
I hear what she is saying but there is no way I can ever forgive him for what he has done to me.
Losing my family, shifting alone, kicking me out of my home with nothing.
Tossing me without even giving me a chance and I had to survive out here.
Never in my life will I ever accept him as my mate.
“Alright I’ll talk to Sari and see if she has any idea how to get rid of that bond”
“This is a mess, I can’t go back to work when I don’t know if they have found out where I work and there is no way I can work from home forever,” I say
“Let’s hope Sari has an idea!”
I find the mindlink open up it’s Jessie
“The kings me are in the woods where you run into, we have found out where they are staying and we have a close watch on them”
“That’s fine keep a tab on them and let me know what happens.” I close the mindlink.
“Any news?” Emma ask
“Yes they have found them, they are looking in the woods I ran into! Just what I hoped they would.There is something I have been wanting to ask you for along time “
“I have been wondering when the question would come! Let’s go to the kitchen first and grab a cup of coffee.I will be needing it for this conversation “

I am used to her somehow knowing what I will ask before I ask the question and when she wants to grab some coffee first I don’t argue with her.
We head into the kitchen and make some coffee she brings out a cake from the refrigerator and cuts some slices.
We take the cake and the coffee and walk out to the patio.
It’s a beautiful day and warm.
We take a seat and enjoy the sun for a little while.
Just sitting there is silence before she starts the conversation.
“let’s hear your question,” she says.
“After everything that happened to you how come you can still think good of men?”
I know she was badly beaten and raped by numerous men before I found her and she was tossed away from the man she loved because he found his mate leaving her pregnant and alone.
Booth Emma and her daughter Ella were traumatized by their experiences.
Ella has a harder time trusting people and especially men.

Now there are two women and one man educator at our school.
