Chapter 16
Chapter 16 Selena pov
“Look what the cat brought in!”
Comes Emma’s voice the moment I step inside the house.I’m naked and bloody and all I want right now is a hot shower.
“you could have warned me!”
I just state to her and walk by, heading up the stairs and to my room.I hear her running after me and when I come inside my room I head right over to my bathroom.
“I did warn you to not go there! I was you who didn’t listen” she says when I turn on the shower and wait for the water to get warmer before stepping inside.
“But you knew!” I say to her and look angry at her.
She just starts to laugh and I roll my eyes at her.I’m not surprised about her behavior at all.I bet she finds this really funny!
“Yes, I did! And maybe I thought it was time you saw that nice piece of as again.How did you like your time with your mate” she says and wiggles her eyebrows at me.
Pinching the bridge of my nose and take a deep breath.
“you know what! I don’t want him.I give him to you! Then you can enjoy his nice as if you want” I say and get inside the shower.
I hear her burst out laughing, I just shake my head and start washing up.
It’s a good thing she is one of my best friends or she would be in deep problems by now.I rescued her and her daughter a while after I had been forced out of his kingdom.
She had lived as a slave for two years with her little daughter, I run into them when I was looking for a new place to stay.She was badly beaten up and chained to a tree with her daughter.
I couldn’t leave her there and I ended up killing the three men who owned her.I was sick to my stomach by everything she had to endure during her years.
But none of them managed to break her spirit.
She is fun and caring, we are as close as we can be.She and her daughter is a part of my family.
I’m very lucky I ran into her and her daughter.
Emma is a witch with the sight to see some of the future, but right now I’m about to question her friendship.
She could have warned me to not go close to the fight, and tell me what would happen if I did.
Rinsing out my shampoo I turn off the shower and walk out.
Emma is still standing by the sink and hands me a towel.
I take it and start drying my body.
“I’m not sure we are friends anymore.I could have died in that prison!” I say and look angry at her.
She just giggles at Me and I walk over to brush my teeth.
“I knew you wouldn’t! Or I would have forced you to stay!” She says “I didn’t want to meet him or had to do what I did to my brother!”
I say and rinse my mouth before walking out of the room and heading over to my closet.
Pulling out some clothes I start to get dressed.
“I thought it was fun! He got to see what he tossed away.”
She states and takes a seat on my bed.
“Emma can you be serious! It’s not funny” I say and walk back to my bathroom and hang my towel.
“I think it’s funny! I would love to have been there and actually seen his face when he found out it was his mate. And I did warn you ” she says when I walk by and shake my head.
We aren’t going anywhere with this and since I have been away for several days I know there is a lot of catching up to do.
Opening my door I walk out and Emma comes Deside me.
Heading down the stairs and to the kitchen I just need to grab something to eat.
“Where are Jessie and Jacob?” I ask her before we come into the kitchen.
Finding Sari cooking some potions, she is an older witch and was one of the first who helped me when I was on the run.
I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for her.She has helped me with everything and figured out howto handle being a white wolf.
“They are out and training right now,” Emma says while Sari comes over to hug me.
“Glad you are back! We need you here” she says and releases me from the hug before she turns back to the stove.
“I would have been back a lot sooner if just Emma here had told me what would happen!”
I state and glare at her before walking over to the fridge and making myself a sandwich.
Sari looks stern at Emma and she takes a step back.
“What! I just thought it was time she met her mate again and show him what he tossed away” she says and walks over to the coffee machine.
“Maybe it’s not for you to interfere!”
Sari tells her and I just look between the standoff of these two while I take a bite of my sandwich.
“Or It’s time someone does something!”
She says and hands mea cup of coffee.Sari just shakes her head and I sigh.
“I don’t want anything to do with him!”I say “you can’t live your whole life alone Selena! You need a mate”
Emma says and I roll my eyes at her.
“you are wrong! I don’t need a man in my life.I’m perfectly fine being on my own” and that’s the truth, I’m happy the way my life is right now, and down want anyone to come and mess it up.
“And who is going to take over all this one day? You need an heir!”
Chapter 17
Chapter 17 Selena pov
I look at her like she has grown two heads.
“Maybe you or Jessie find someone and get babies who can take over one day.”
I place my cup down and take another bite of my sandwich.
“If you ask Kian he might be okay by giving you some of his little friends and you could get inseminated,” Emma says and I choke on my sandwich and start coughing heavily.
“Are you trying to kill her?” Sari says and comes over to give me a glass of water. I take it and start drinking.
When I finally manage to breathe without coughing I please the glass down on the kitchen counter.
“What?! I just gave a suggestion” Emma says and I just look at her and shake my head.
“You can’t say it wasn’t a good idea!”
I just roll my eyes and give up on this conversation, I’m not going anywhere with her.
Eating up my sandwich I take another cup of coffee and head up to my office.I can only imagine the amount of work I’m behind since I have been away for days.
Coming into my office I walk over to my desk and place my cup down.
Sitting down in my office chair I start up my computer and go over all papers and notes I have to fix.
Sighing to myself and sipping on my coffee.This day is going to be long.
I have been sitting in my office and trying to get on top of everything when Jessie comes knocking on my door.She smiles at me and walks into my office.
“I was a bit worried for you!” She says before she takes a seat in front of me.
“Didn’t Emma tell you what she knew?” I ask and look up from my papers at her.
“She did! But you know how she is! If she thought it would be good for you to meet him she could probably even be okay with you being marked by him or forced to stay as his prisoner for a while”
I just shake my head at the thought.
I know Jessie is right.
Since the day I ran into her in the woods while she was fleeing by foot from being forced to be mated with a fifty years older widow who wanted her to be his sex slave we have been inseparable.
For a while it where us two against the world.
Trying to find food and when we one day came across Sari our new life began.
I had all these years of combat training with my father and I took the time to train her every day.
Since then we often train just to keep us going.
We have been on a lot of rescue missions and more than once have we been fighting for our lives.
Not knowing if we were going to make it out alive or not.
There isn’t anyone else I would rather have by my side than her in a fight! “
I know you are right! I should have stayed away from going to the fight if I have known what would happen”
leaning back in my chair I look out the window.
“How was it to see your mate again?” She asks me and I only have one thing to say.
“He is the same shitty mate since the last time I met him! No one I would ever want in my life!” I honestly tell her.
“Does he know you are a white wolf and what your gifts are?” She asks and I turn my head back to look at her.
“Unfortunately he knows I’m a white wolf but I didn’t give away any clues about my gifts and I’m going to keep it that way! I left his kingdom without a trace and they are going to think I’m dead, for a while at least.When they don’t find my body they might start to question if I’m dead or not” I tell her and sigh.
“and when he finds out you have fooled him, one day he will find out the truth!” I start to laugh at the thought.
He might get angry and at least surprised.
“Well, it’s not my problem! I have done everything right.And I couldn’t care less what he does!” I say with a smirk on my lips.
I would love to see his face when he finds out my biggest secret.
Jessie starts to laugh and shakes her head.
“you are not afraid of his wrath?” She asks and I just shrug my shoulders.
“I’m not and the best thing is if he would reject me instead or accept my rejection! We could be free from each other”
I know he will probably never accept a rejection even how angry he would be.I have no problem living my life without a man in it, I have my family and friends here.
We have a good thing going on and there is nothing I would rather have than them.
It would just be easier if I didn’t have to look over my shoulder all the time and be forced to hide my tracks.
“Well I know we are going to have our hands full for time being, a lot has happened these last few days since you have been away!”
She says when there is a knock on my office door.
It takes just a moment before the door is opened and Jacob comes walking inside with a big smile on his lips and a cup of coffee in his hand.
He walks over to me and places it down on my desk before he grabs my shoulders and forces me up on my feet and wraps me up ina tight hug.
“I was worried about you! We have a lot to do now when our Alpha finally is back with us!” He releases me from the hug and I give him a big smile.
Chapter 18 Selena pov
I had a hard time sleeping last night, tossed and turned the whole night, and saw my brother’s face when I looked at him before going over the cliff.
Hate that I had to do this to him! 1 Early in the morning I gave up and got dressed for the day instead.
I have been in my office for a few hours before Jessie comes walking inside.
“Everything ready for today?” She asks when she takes a seat in front of me.
“Some new deliveries are coming and I hope everything arrives for the hospital today! Can you take Jacob and Zoey’s men to guard it when it arrives?” I ask her.
When I started rescuing people they stayed by my side and at one point we became our own pack.I became the Alpha and for me, it was an easy choice to have Jessie as my beta.
She is one of my family and I can always count on her.
The road we have been traveling to come to this point hasn’t been easy.
My pack members are the rejected and outcasts, they have all been through hell and when we shoved up to their rescue we became a tight group of people.
With one goal in mind.
To build the best place for us and stay together! On the way, I came across Jacob.
He was a broken soul and it took some time before he found his strength again and for me, no one could fit better than him to be my gamma.He has a heart of gold and makes sure the pack members are fine.
I wouldn’t know what to do if he wasn’t here! This pack has grown in members and some family members have come to join us, Jacob is the one to handle everything at first and make sure it’s good members we add to our pack before I take them in.
“I will! And you need to send another letter to the king’s office.There are ten new members since you left and I have looked over our papers, we are about to become one of the largest packs around here.How are you going to keep that away from him?” She asks and I just flash her a smile.
“The same way I always do! And I think we already are past the biggest packs.We have pushed over six thousand pack members last month” I say and sit back in my chair.
The king’s office register packs and how many members there are, these years I have been smart.I found a loupe whole and took my chance.
It might come back and bite me in my ass one day but until then he has no idea I’m the alpha of this pack and since he hasn’t demanded to come to visit us he took my bait!
“I don’t want to be you when he finds out!”
She says and chuckles “Let him come! It would be fun to see him walk around and not find this place” in my pack there are some pretty talented witches and they have made an illusion around this place.
It looks like an old swamp from the outside and no sounds or smells can be detected.
We are completely hidden and safe inside our borders.
Everyone in this pack helps build it up, new homes are always being built and a lot of members live together.
We help each other with everything.
Some have regular work to go to and help get the money to keep this place running.
Others help with gathering food and taking care of our vegetable gardens.
Most of them came here with nothing, and we are doing this together as a family.
From being rejected and tossed away we have a family here, a home!
“I will go and tell Jacob before I head over to work,” she says and I give her a nod.
I have to finish my things up quickly and head over to work myself.
When Jessie and I run into Sari she gave us shelter and helped get us jobs in the city.
We started as cleaners and one day I bumped into a man called Elijah.
He was on the top floor where I did the cleaning in his room and accidentally swept some papers down his desk, we became friends and he taught me what they did at the company.He helped me get an account and started selling and buying stocks as fun on a very small scale at first.
I found it really fun and started to dive into it wholeheartedly. I was good at it and it didn’t take too long before they saw my talent and offered me a job on their floor. I have been in the same office since and made a name for myself in this business.
Today I have several customers and handling their accounts in the company.I’m making good money and because of it I could buy this land and build this pack.
I’m forever grateful for Elijah and the things he has done for me, I know he has an interest in me, and even if I find him attractive and I owe him for everything he has done it could never be anything else.
He is a human and they have no idea we even exist! In the city we are working there are most humans even if some of us are there.
Turning off my computer I walk out of my office and head down to the kitchen.
Just need to grab some breakfast and coffee before I head over to work.
My closest men are living in this pack house and we often try to have dinner together.I wouldn’t change a thing! “Had a nice wet dream about your mate?!”
Comes Emma’s voice and [ just roll my eyes at her, I’m not sure I’m in the mood for her teasing this early in the morning.
Chapter 19 Selena pov
Seeing Emma and Zoey in the kitchen I say good morning to Zoey first.She is my head warrior and she helps train the pack every day.
“No Emma and as I recall I gave him to you yesterday!”
I state and walk by her and take down a cup of coffee and start making a sandwich.I don’t have time to do anything else.
“I would love to have some time with him under the sheets but you know it doesn’t work that way!” She says and chuckles.
“Well, I don’t want him and will never be dreaming about him”I state and take a bite of my sandwich.
“You never know!”
She says and wiggles her eyebrows at me.I got this feeling she knows something.I stop chewing and look stern at her.
“Spill the beans! What do you know?”
She averts her eyes and starts stirring in the pot on the stove.Now I’m certain she knows more than she says.
” Now you tell me or I will get pissed,” I say and hope she takes it seriously.
She stops stirring and turns around to look at me.
“I don’t know what to tell you! I have only seen glances and you are in his cell in the castle.That’s all I promise” I raise my eyebrow at her not trusting her in this since the last time.
“I’m not going anywhere near his kingdom and I will not let him catch me again!”
I just state and eat up my sandwich.
Putting my cup down in the sink.
“Have you got a dress for the banquet on Friday?” Zoey asks and I have completely forgotten about it.
Dragging a hand down my face I don’t have time for this.
Hearing Emma laugh.
“Don’t worry Selena! I will get you one tomorrow” she says and I feel relief! If I could skip it I would but I have to be there with my colleagues.
A lot of our customers will be there.
“thank you!”
I say and look at her before turning my head to Zoey “I’m going to work! Just link me if there is anything.
And Zoey has some of the guards taking an extra patrol around the woods” she gives me a nod and I walk out of the kitchen.
Heading to work it doesn’t take me long before I’m outside the entrance and head over to the elevator.I’m usually one of the first ones here and like my time to start the day before everyone else comes in for work.
When I arrive at my floor I walk straight to my office and start my computer up when I get inside.I have some time to catch up to work when my door is opened up.
“I heard you were sick! Feeling better?”
Elijah comes inside my office and I lift my head to look at him.He stands there with his beautiful smile and it’s contagious.I smile back at him.
“Yes, I do!” I answer him and place some papers down I held in my hand.
I’m lucky Jessie called and tell them I was sick when I didn’t come back.
“Do you need any help with catching up on work!” He says and I’m grateful for his kindness.
I know he wouldn’t hesitate to help me if I ever needed it.
“Thank you but I will manage!” I answer him and I see he wants to ask me something more.
I wait for him to tell me.
“I wanted to ask you if you would be my company at the banquet on Friday,” he says and I hear he is nervous, I smile at him.
“ of course,” I say and se him breathe out.
“great! What color is your dress?” He says and I shrug my shoulders.
“I don’t know yet.I will buy one tomorrow” I say when my office phone starts to ring.
“I need to take this! I can let you know tomorrow what color my dress is”
“alright!”
He says and I pick up the phone and answer, I look at him when he walks out of my office and closed the door.
The whole day went by in a blur and I hardly get any time to take a break and eat.
Sitting in front of my computer while I eat a salad and try to have the last done for the day when I get a mindlink from Zoey. It is one of my abilities, mindlink my pack, and anyone I want even how far away I am I can always mindlink.
“What’s the problem?” I mindlink.
“We got some activity north of our borders, several wolves have been spotted!” She says
“Get everyone inside our borders and have some of our guards follow from a safe distance, I’m coming right away,” I say and end the link.
Getting up on my feet I quickly turn off the computer and pick up my bag before I start walking over to my door.
Open it up I take a step and hit a wall which is Elijah, dropping my bag on the floor and almost falling to the ground.
When his arms come and catch me.His face and lips are only inches away and I look him deep into his grey eyes.He slowly rise me up and keep eye contact with me.
Clearing my throat and averting my eyes he let me go.
“Sorry I was in a hurry!”
I tell him “It’s fine! I just came here to give you this!”
He says and picks up a bag from the floor.
Holding it in front of me he gives me his biggest smile and I slowly take the bag from him.
Opening it up I see a bright blue dress in it and it looks gorgeous.
“Why are you giving me this?” I ask him, don’t see why he would give me a dress.
His hand comes up to cup my cheek.
“I saw it in the store and thought it would be perfect with your beautiful blue eyes”
Chapter 20
Chapter 20 Selena pov
Looking at him I have a hard time knowing what to say.
“Thank you!” I say and he pulls his hand back while I bend down and pick up my bag.
“You are welcome and can I pick you up at six on Friday?” He asks and there is no way I could have him come to the pack.
I have a post box registered in the city. No one really knows where 1 live.
“I have a few things to do on Friday before the banquet, it’s better if I meet you outside at seven!”
“Alright” he says and we start walking to the elevator.
Before we reach we say goodbye.He has some more things to wrap up and I have to hurry back home.
It doesn’t take long before I’m back home and I see the delivery have arrived and several men are busy getting everything over to the new hospital building.
The building is almost done just some small things left and then all the furniture needs to be set up.
We can’t wait to have the hospital done.I walk over to check it out and Jacob walks over to me.
“Is everything in order?” I ask him
“Yes! Everything has arrived and we will be buissy getting it ready. I think we will be done by the end of the week”
“I can’t wait to se it up and running it will help a lot! Keep it up and let me know if there is any problem!” I tell him and walk over to the packhouse.
We have been without a hospital.We have a doctor here and two nurses but they have been in a house and without the right equipment.
When we have it all in place we can help more of our pack members.We have both witches and werewolves in this pack and some of them are old and without being able to shift and heal properly.
Having a hospital even a small one will help us a lot.
Meeting Emma when I walk inside the pack house.
“What’s in your bag?” She asks and snatches it away from me.
Opening the bag she pulls out the dress.
“It’s gorgeous, it must have been expensive,” she says and holds it up in front of me.
“I guess so,” I say and shrug my shoulders “you guess? Didn’t you see the price tag when you brought it” she stops and looks at me.
“I got it as a gift “
“Ah your loverboy got it for you,” she says and wiggles her eyebrows at me.
“He is not my lover boy!” I say and pinch the bridge on my nose
“Well, I bet he would want to be if you let him!” She says and chuckles.
“No Emma! I already have enough problems with my supposed fated mate.There is never going to be anyone else!”
I take the dress from her and head up to my room.I hear her come after me and close the door when she enters my room.
“you know Selena.I only tease you out of love, you are my family! But to be honest, I feel sad for you if you never get to experience the first kiss and be truly loved.You deserve to be happy as much as everyone else.”
She says and I know she only means well, sometimes I’m just not up to all her teasing.
“I know Emma! I’m just tired and mad that he gets to dictate my life from a distance.He didn’t want me all those years back and he forced me out of the pack and my safety! I had to leave everyone behind.I just want to find a solution.The best thing is if I can be free from him”
I say and sit down on my bed.I hear her walk over to me and take a seat beside me.
“Are you sure it’s the best thing for you two? The moon goddess pared you for a reason and think you two have a bigger purpose.Look at all the rogues showing up lately.You two together would be unstoppable” she says andI sigh.
“The moon goddess has made a mistake this time!” I state and get up from the bed.
I’m done sulking about what I got in my life.1 have a new family here and my pack who relies on me.
Changing my clothes I walk out of the room.
“Where are you going?” Emma says when I leave my room.
“I have to talk to Zoey and check the woods!” I say and walk down the stairs.
After today It feels nice to go for a run and clear my mind.
Coming out of the pack house I start to search for Zoey and head south first.I know at this time she use to be at the southern borders and looking at the surroundings.
When I reach it she is easy to find.
“Any news from the patrol?” I ask her knowing some of our patrols followed behind the rogues.
“They are on their way back.They followed the rogues in the same way as before and disappeared into the cave”
I am not surprised by hearing this.
We have been following them to the same spot every time and we haven’t followed them in there.I know the cave leads to somewhere but I am not prepared to risk any of my men or myself to keep following them.
Whatever waits on the other side is not a good thing with the amount of rogues we have seen running in there.
“Alright it’s all good”
“I think you should alert the king! Whatever they are planning it’s big and if they continue to grow in the number of rogues no one might be able to stop them.
I think she is right but I have to think of a way to leave the message anonymous.
