Ethan had barely begun to pull off Kylie’s shirt and sweater when her phone buzzed to let her know that she’d received a message from Facebook. She tried to answer it, but Ethan scooped it out of her hand. Not knowing who the message was from, Kylie cried out, “Give it back! It might be important!”

Ethan took a look at the screen and saw that it was from someone called “Stars.” “Stars?” he wondered aloud. “Who is this, and what kind of a name is that?”

Kylie’s face turned red in embarrassment but, when she tried to get her phone back, he allowed it. Knowing that Ethan still expected an explanation, she avoided his eyes and said, “Star is just a friend of mine…”

Changing the subject, Ethan asked how she was feeling about all the online drama that she’d created the day before at the press junket. Anxious to keep him distracted, Kylie exclaimed how the whole thing hadn’t blown up to the extent that she’d wanted it too. “It was big,” she explained, “but not big enough…”

Ethan raised his hand and rubbed her hair gently, and Kylie almost drowned in his gentle eyes. For a moment, she forgot that he was a predator and that she was his prey, but then he attacked her and did not let up until he’d gotten what he’d wanted.
