“Tobias, trust me, the waters in West Lucozia run too deep. You can’t control this. Leave while you can!”
Stephan’s voice was filled with urgency as he watched Tobias silently weigh his options. Being former comrades-in-arms, he couldn’t bear to see Tobias meet a grim fate.
“You make a good point,” Tobias admitted after a pause. “It’s not brute force I’m worried about; it’s the underhanded moves I can’t anticipate.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Tobias finally nodded. “Stephan, take me back to the hotel. I’ll pack my things.”
“That’s more like it!” Stephan sighed in relief. “Remember the saying: ‘If you keep the green mountains, you’ll never run out of firewood.’ Your safety matters most.”
“Thank you, Stephan. If we get the chance, I owe you a drink.” Tobias offered a faint smile, realizing how close he’d come to ignoring his instincts. Once trouble struck, regret would mean nothing.
