Always Been Yours Chapter 501

"What do you mean?" Remus heard the difference in Nicholas' words and turned his head to look at him.

When Nicholas saw this, he also felt it was time for him to tell Remus the reason why he was being hospitalized this time.

He initially did not want to say it for fear of upsetting Remus. However, he felt that with Remus' insistence on having the Stone Family attached to theirs through marriage, he was afraid that Remus' stubbornness would germinate again if he did not tell Remus about these matters.

"First of all, I disfavor Hayley. Secondly, she has too many tricks up her sleeves. She'll do anything to achieve her goals..."

As he spoke, he deliberately paused. Then, he continued, "This time, you were hospitalized due to acute heart failure caused by medicinal antagonism and it so happened that it was Hayley who had sent the health supplements."

"Impossible!" After listening to Nicholas' words, Remus' first reaction was disbelief.

After all, Hayley cared a lot about him on most days.

Furthermore, Remus felt that even if Hayley had the nerves of steel, she wouldn't dare to act against him.

Nicholas had expected that Remus would have had such a reaction. Therefore, he handed Remus the evidence stored in his phone to check.

Sure enough, the proof was a picture of Hayley going to the pharmacy to buy two different kinds of health supplements that could cause medicinal antagonism when consumed together.

After that, Nicholas continued with a cold expression as he stood beside the hospital bed. "The staff who served Hayley resigned a few days after her visit and no one has been able to reach him anymore. Why would he resign if there wasn't something fishy going on?”

"This..." Remus was rendered speechless. However, he still did not believe that Hayley would be so audacious.

Nicholas gave Ian, who was beside him, a look upon seeing Remus' hesitation.

Ian immediately took the hint, stepped forward, and said, "Sir, Master Nicholas is not lying about this matter. This time, the cause of your hospitalization was indeed due to the consumption of Hayley's supplements. If you don't believe us, you can ask Doctor Sloan to come."

Remus still found it difficult to accept when he heard Ian's words. However, anger now clouded his mind instead of disbelief.

After all, he had already regarded Hayley as his granddaughter-in-law. Moreover, he also thought that he had treated her well, regardless of whether or not she was to become his granddaughter-in-law.

Nicholas did not say anything more when he saw Remus' gradually worsening countenance.

There are some things that Grandpa needs to think through.

Then, he stayed with Remus for a while and went back.

Only Remus and Ian were left in the ward.

Remus slowly spoke after he stared into space and pondered on the matter for a long while, "Call Hayley and the Stone Family and ask them to come over tomorrow."

"Yes." Ian nodded in acquiescence.

In Tompkins Residence, more than an hour had passed since the meal.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins were very welcoming toward Tessa and Gregory. They even insisted that Tessa and Gregory stay for a little longer.

Since it was difficult for her to refuse such kindness, Tessa decided to stay a little longer while accompanying Gregory.

It was not until almost 9.00PM that they bid Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins farewell.

"Miss Reinhart, come and visit us more often when you're free in the future. Bring Greg along with you."

Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins bid farewell to Tessa and Gregory as they walked to the door.

Tessa nodded with a smile as she carried Gregory in her arms. "Sure. I will visit you two when I have time in the future. Now, Greg, say goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins."

"Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins!"

Gregory was very well-behaved as he waved goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins while making himself comfortable in her arms.

After they left the Tompkins Residence, Timothy escorted Tessa and Gregory back to Dynasty Gardens.

In the living room was Nicholas seated on the couch in casual loungewear with a notebook on his lap. Although his fluffy black hair was messily scattered across his forehead, he was still handsome. Even though he was dressed and ready for bed, his relaxed form caused him to look laid-back even with his indescribable aristocratic aura.

When Tessa held Gregory's hand and entered the room, she saw such an aesthetic scene.

At the same time, Nicholas also heard the sound of footsteps. Thus, he raised his head and looked up from the computer. The coldness on his facial features melted as the tenderness filled his face almost instantaneously.

"Welcome home."

He looked at her unblinkingly with his black eyes.

She walked over with Gregory and asked with a smile, "Have you eaten yet?"

"I have already eaten something in the evening." He nodded.

However, Tessa felt that Nicholas probably had not eaten much tonight when she heard that. Therefore, she could not help but suggest, "Do you want a late-night snack? I'll make it for you."

When he saw the girl leaving his vicinity, he hurriedly held her back. "You don't have to do it. You just came back after a long night. Sit and rest for a while. Andrew has already arranged for the kitchen to prepare late-night snacks."

Always Been Yours Chapter 502

As Nicholas said that, he pulled Tessa to sit beside him and the smile on his face deepened due to her concern for him.

After Timothy nodded and greeted Nicholas, he sat quietly beside them too.

Nicholas asked in a warm voice as he held her hand. "How did the visit to the Tompkins' go?"

"The Tompkins are very welcoming."

She briefly talked about what happened in the Tompkins Residence, then summarized it neatly. "In general, everyone got along very well."

When he saw the bright smile on the girl's face, a hint of happiness could be seen in his eyes.

That was when Gregory also came over, pouring out the contents in his pocket as he presented the gifts he received from the Tompkins.

"Daddy, look! Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins gave me these!"

Most of the things were candies and snacks. There was even a toy shop gift card from Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins.

He even showed off by waving the gift card around. "This is a welcome gift that Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins gave me! Neither Miss Tessa nor Mr. Timothy has it. Only I have it."

Nicholas let out a hearty laugh, and the expression on his face softened even more.

Then, he rubbed Gregory's soft black hair lovingly and said warmly, "Since it's a welcome gift, you have to take good care of it. As for these candies, you must eat less. Or else, your teeth will rot."

"I know. Miss Tessa already told me that on our way back home."

Gregory nodded obediently. Then, he carefully kept the candies, snacks, and toy shop gift card in his pocket. Not long after, he started yawning.

When Nicholas saw this, he asked the servant to take Gregory upstairs to take a bath.

After Gregory left, the atmosphere in the living room became relatively quiet.

Tessa tilted her head and asked the man next to her, "How's your Grandpa doing in the hospital? Is he recovering well?"

Timothy also looked at Nicholas with concern when he heard his sister’s inquiries.

When he sensed their concern, he said briefly, "Don't worry, he's recovering well."

Tessa nodded, relieved by the good news.

Then, the three started chatting away.

A while later, Andrew informed them, "The late-night snack is ready."

Nicholas nodded, then looked sideways at Tessa as he asked with his low and charming voice,

"Care to accompany me?"

Naturally, she would not refuse his invitation and followed him after getting up from the sofa.

However, she did not leave immediately. Instead, she turned her head around and asked, "Tim, are you joining?"

"No, I'm not. You should keep Nicholas company."

After he finished speaking, Timothy tacitly left them alone.

He felt that if he followed them, they would definitely make him watch them being lovey- dovey, and he would feel like a third wheel again.

I sure don't want to make myself suffer.

Timothy was right with his guess, as reality wasn't that much different from how he thought it would be.

In the dining area, Tessa smiled and rested her chin on her hand as she looked at Nicholas.

The atmosphere was sweet and cozy as they chatted the night away.

After they finished their late-night snacks, Tessa accompanied Nicholas for a walk in the garden.

At that moment, a gentle breeze blew, and it gently ruffled through her hair.

Tessa could not help but look up at the man beside her. Right now, she felt that her life was fulfilling and joyful with this person by her side, and she hoped that it would continue to stay this way in the future.

The next day, the Stone Family received a note from Remus and came to the hospital early in the morning.

"Old Master Sawyer, you look so much better. Now, my mind can also be at peace." Hayley looked at Remus with a concerned look.

Both Nero and Sonia also repeated Hayley's words in agreement.

Remus listened to their flattery blankly, making him look mysterious and hard to read.

On the contrary, Hayley keenly noticed Remus' strange behavior and asked, "Is there something wrong, Old Master Sawyer? Are you in a bad mood?"

"No, I was just thinking about something."

Remus made a perfunctory remark. Then, he adjusted himself to be seated in a comfortable sitting position. As if making a passing remark, he mentioned. "I heard Nicholas say that Hayley and Mrs. Stone especially went to buy health supplements before. How nice of you two."

At once, Sonia and Hayley were startled.

The two did not seem to expect that Remus would suddenly mention this matter.

Then, Hayley immediately explained with a smile after a momentary pause as she was lost in her thoughts. "It's nothing. We also care about you. By the way, Old Master Sawyer, why are you looking for us today?" "It's nothing. I’m fine too. Seeing that I have gotten better, I figure that I should thank you all."

Always Been Yours Chapter 503

As Remus spoke, he looked at Sonia and Hayley meaningfully.

When Hayley and Sonia saw this, they suddenly felt a little guilty, especially Sonia, as she felt an indescribable forbidding aura was coming after her. However, her being the Stone Family's madam for so many years had resulted in her having complete control over her facial expressions; therefore, she didn't give herself away that easily.

Similarly, Hayley also sensed the pressure circulating in the air. Although she was a little fearful, she quickly composed herself.

"Old Master Sawyer, you don't need to thank us. Caring for the elderly is our duty."

She responded obediently as always, slipping into the virtuous and sensible persona she had created to get on Remus’ good side.

Remus stared straight at Hayley when he heard those words.

When she saw this, she merely gave him a faint smile while he was observing her.

However, it was a pity that she forgot about one thing. No matter how good a person disguised their expression, the eyes were the windows of one's soul.

The moment he saw the mother-daughter duo and their slightly averted gazes, he knew then that what Nicholas had told him yesterday was true.

For a moment, disappointment filled his heart.

I never expected that the girl I favored would backstab me like this.

Despite being disappointed, Remus did not show it outwardly.

Then, he retracted his gaze from Hayley and said cooly, "I thank you for your concern. I’ll be discharged from the hospital in a few days. You don't have to make time just to pay me a visit unless there's something urgent."

Hayley frowned when she heard those words, and she couldn't help feeling that there was a hidden meaning behind them.

Before she could think deeply about it, Nero's voice rang in her ears.

Meanwhile, Nero did not realize that something was amiss and had not caught on to the double meaning of Remus' words.

All he could think about was the marriage tying the two families together. I'm sure that since Old Master Sawyer’s condition has made a turn for the better, the wedding will proceed as agreed upon, right?

"Old Master Sawyer, now that you're feeling well, should we begin arranging the engagement affairs between Hayley and Nicholas?"

When Remus heard this, he almost let out a mirthless laugh at the Stone Family's shamelessness.

If it weren't for my old friend, Maxwell, I wouldn't even want to waste a single second on these people.

Finally, he said perfunctorily, "I've just recovered from my illness, and I don't have that energy to deal with these things. So, let's talk about it when I've fully recovered."

As he listened to Remus' refusal, only then did he notice Remus' attitude change. When Nero finally made a connection between his words earlier and his sudden shift in attitude, Nero couldn't help but feel wrong-footed.

However, he did not dare to show it outwardly.

"It's true. You should take care of your body first. I was wrong to push for this right now." He placated Remus with a smile.

Unfortunately, Remus only nodded indifferently to Nero’s words. Then, as he felt that he was no longer in the mood to entertain them further, he showed them the door. "I'm a little tired. I'll see you when I see you, do have a safe trip home. Ian, send them off."

"Yes." When Ian received his orders, he immediately stepped forward and gestured to the Stone Family to take their leave.

Therefore, the Stone Family had no choice but to bid Remus farewell.

After they walked out of the ward, Sonia couldn't help but ask anxiously, "Hubby, what does Old Master Sawyer mean? Is he rethinking his choice to arrange a marriage alliance between our families?"

"Be quiet!" Nero scolded lightly.

Then, she saw him carefully glancing at the ward. Once he found that the door was already closed behind them, he gave her a warning look and strode away.

She also knew that she had misspoken earlier. Hence, she silently followed behind him as they left the hospital.

Meanwhile, Hayley gloomily followed behind her parents.

She was also thinking about what Remus had said earlier.

After they left the hospital and got into their car, only then did Nero say with a sour expression, "I’m afraid Old Master Sawyer has already realized something."

"Realized what?" Sonia reflexively asked as she still hadn't linked Remus' change to her failed scheme.

He snapped at her after giving her a cold glare, "Realized that he was hospitalized this time because of the supplements you and Hayley sent."

"How could this be?" When Sonia and Hayley heard that, their facial expressions twisted into a rather ugly sight.

Both of them could not believe that Remus would discover their scheme. After all, they made sure to hide their tracks when they plotted against him.

Nero snorted derisively when he saw the disbelief on their faces, "Try recalling every sentence Old Master Sawyer had said in the ward carefully. Don't you two think that each of them had an underlying meaning?"

They could not refute his words after pondering about them.

In reality, they did feel that something was off at the time. However, they didn't think it was because their plots were exposed, and he had figured it out.

Always Been Yours Chapter 504

At this moment, Sonia was a little panicked. "Why did Old Master Sawyer call us here today?"

"He’s probably trying to test us."

Now, not only was Sonia uneasy, but Hayley's expression had also changed drastically when she heard this.

That was because she remembered what Remus had said to her at the end. Does this mean that Old Master Sawyer has come to a conclusion in his heart?

When this thought entered her mind, she couldn't help blurting out, "Dad, do you think Old Master Sawyer has given up on the engagement between the two families?"

"Isn't it obvious? Why are you asking such a useless question?"

Then, Nero looked at her sullenly as he blamed her, saying, "You're still too impulsive, and your plans are riddled with holes. You didn’t even get rid of the evidence. Great! Now the wedding is truly off!"

Meanwhile, on Nicholas' side, he received a call from the hospital bodyguard not long after he arrived at the company.

"Boss, Old Master Sawyer met the Stone Family this morning, and the Stone Family didn't look too hot when they left."

"Got it. Carry out your duty and take good care of Old Master Sawyer. If the Stone Family comes again, inform me promptly."

After he gave out his orders, he directly hung up the phone.

After he kept his phone away, he looked ahead with narrowed eyes as he pondered the matter. Now, Grandpa should have no more illusions about them. This is good since it's just as I wanted.

Meanwhile, Tessa was unaware of any of this.

After sending Nicholas and Timothy off, she accompanied Gregory to practice violin in the music room.

However, she could not help but be concerned about Hathaway's situation after having some time to herself.

She was constantly feeling a little worried. Kathleen is being detained at the moment, and only Miss Hathaway is staying in the hotel, waiting for her release. At the same time, the rest of the orchestra members are enjoying the rest of their stay.

After she thought about it for a moment, she squatted down and asked Gregory, "Greg, shall we visit my teacher today?"

"Okay!" Gregory naturally agreed. I can go out to play and be together with my favorite person in the whole world! Of course, I'll go!

Just like that, the two tidied up a little and went out.

When they arrived at the hotel, she held his hand as she knocked on the door of Hathaway's room.

After a while, they heard the sound of footsteps coming from inside the room and Hathaway's inquiry. "Who is it?"

"Miss Hathaway, it's me," Tessa answered while standing outside the door.

"Tessa, Greg, what brings you two here?" When Hathaway opened the door and saw the two of them, she felt surprised. "Come on in."

Then, she turned sideways and beckoned them into the room.

Tessa nodded, held Gregory's hand, and responded as she walked. "I felt a little worried since you're alone in the hotel, so I decided to drop by for a visit."

Likewise, Gregory was also very sensible as he took the initiative to greet Hathaway without prompting. "Madam Hathaway."

When Hathaway heard his adorable voice, it made her smile, causing her face to wrinkle.

So, she looked at him kindly as she praised, "You're such a good boy, Greg."

As she spoke, she beckoned the two of them to take a seat on the sofa. Then, she served them juice.

When Tessa saw that Hathaway looked alright, it instantly soothed her worries.

Hathaway held her glass, took a sip of water, and smiled, "It's really considerate of you to visit me. But I'm fine, so you don't have to worry about me."

As she spoke, her tender gaze landed on Gregory. It didn't take long for her to discover that he was staring fixedly at the violin case she had put aside.

"I remember you said that Greg is also learning to play the violin? Are you planning to groom him as your successor in the future?" Hathaway directed this question at Tessa.

Just before Tessa could answer, his high-pitched voice rang out in the room.

"Madam Hathaway, I can already play some songs! Miss Tessa taught me all of them."

Tessa and Hathaway's smiles deepened when they saw his satisfied and proud look.

Next to them, Gregory even started using his fingers as he counted how many songs he knew how to play. That serious look on his face was simply way too adorable.

"This child is so cute," Hathaway directed her compliment of him to Tessa with a smile.

Tessa nodded in agreement as an acknowledgment of her words. Then, she said with a smile, "His Dad is the one who arranged for him to learn to play the violin. If he keeps having an interest in it, we may nurture him in this aspect."

Just like that, the topic of their conservation revolved around him.

After a while, she suddenly suggested. "Miss Hathaway, why don't I show you around?"

Always Been Yours Chapter 505

"I can’t if it's today. Scott is arriving in the afternoon, so I'm waiting for him." Hathaway shook her head and declined politely.

Tessa was a little surprised. "Mr. Brooks has returned?"

"Yes. Oh, since you're here. Why don't you come with me?" Hathaway smiled as she invited Tessa along.

Tessa agreed since she figured she had nothing to do this afternoon.

At noon, Tessa was planning to take Hathaway out for a meal.

However, Hathaway’s phone suddenly started ringing. After she took a look at the caller ID, she saw that it was a call from Scott.

Tessa didn't know what Scott was telling Hathaway on the other end of the phone. All she could see was Hathaway nodding while smiling. "I see. Sure, I'll be waiting for you at the hotel."

After she was done with the conversation, she ended the call.

When Tessa saw this, she asked, "Is Mr. Brooks coming over?"

"Yes, he's already on his way. So let's wait for him in the lobby and have our meal together."

After Hathaway finished speaking, she led Tessa and Gregory to the hotel's lobby.

The three did not wait long before Scott strode into the hotel lobby wearing a silver-gray suit.

They saw his tall and slender figure and his exquisite facial features. He looked just like a European prince straight out of a storybook with his elegant and aristocratic aura. It didn't take him long to attract the attention of many in the hotel's lobby.

However, he didn't seem to notice those stares as he stood in the center of the lobby, looking around him.

It didn’t take long for Hathaway to notice him. So, as she sat on the sofa, she waved her hand and raised her voice, "Scott, we're here!"

Scott's lips curved into a smile when he saw Hathaway and walked over gracefully.

"Miss Hathaway."

He greeted Hathaway politely, and almost immediately, he spotted Tessa sitting opposite her. So, he commented with a surprised look on his face. "Miss Reinhart, you're here as well."

"It's been a while, Mr. Brooks."

"Yeah, It's been some time."

Scott's eyes seemed to be conveying some deep emotion as he looked at Tessa deeply.

Gregoiy was unwilling to be forgotten, so he stuck out his head from Tessa's side and pouted. "Mr. Brooks, I'm here too."

Only then did Scott notice Gregory's existence, and his gaze reflected his mixed emotions.

However, he quickly hid it and said with a light smile, "Greg is here too. I see you've grown a lot taller."

As Gregory heard Scott's praise, he proudly puffed out his little chest and said, "I'm a good boy, and I finish all my food. Of course, I'll grow taller. Then, when I'm as tall as my Daddy, I can protect Miss Tessa, too."

Tessa was so moved by his naivety that she hugged Gregory tightly in response, to the point that she didn't want to let him go.

Hathaway and Scott also chuckled good- naturedly.

Soon, they started chatting in the lounge.

"Miss Hathaway, I have heard about the incident regarding Kathleen. I didn't expect her to do such a thing. It’s fortunate that things didn't take a turn for the worst, so please be at ease. Everything will turn out fine."

Scott brought Kathleen into the conversation and tried his best to coax Hathaway to keep an open mind.

In all honesty, he felt that Kathleen had brought the trouble upon herself regarding this matter. But, of course, it also didn't help that he didn't exactly have the best impression of her.

When Hathaway heard his words, she only sighed and said slowly, "There's nothing for me to be upset about. After all, this is just the consequence of her own actions. Besides, this should teach her an unforgettable lesson, if nothing else. Her father pampered her so much that saying she's a spoiled brat would be an understatement. It's a good thing that Tessa let this matter slide. I'm afraid the consequences would have been much worse for her if it was someone else."

Tessa smiled and didn't respond to Hathaway's gratefulness.

After they took a short breather in the lounge, they went to a nearby Mediterranean restaurant for lunch.

During this period, Gregory sensibly stayed by Tessa's side obediently.

Hathaway and Scott had a good time chatting, and Tessa occasionally responded with a sentence or two whenever they directed the conversation to her. As a result, the atmosphere during lunch was pleasant.

Unknowingly, the topic of their conversation talked about the reason why Scott returned to Xerthania.

"Why did you suddenly decide to visit Xerthania? Alone, as well."

Hathaway looked at him curiously and jested, "Did you have a squabble with Mr. Miller?"

"Oh, no. That’s not the case," Scott responded with a laugh. Finally, he explained, "My Grandpa was ill, so I specially asked for leave to come back to visit him."

Always Been Yours Chapter 506

When Hathaway heard this, she immediately stopped jesting and asked concernedly, "How is your grandfather?"

Tessa, who was next to Scott, also looked at him with concern as well.

Scott had helped her a lot, and he was like a teacher and a friend to Tessa. So it was only normal for her to be concerned with his affairs.

When he saw how concerned they were, he immediately told them about his grandfather, Mateo Brooks' condition. "Now that his health condition is under control, he’ll only need to be hospitalized for a bit and receive treatment before he can return home and recuperate."

That's good to hear." Hathaway smiled. Shortly after, she suddenly suggested. "Is it alright if I pay him a visit in the afternoon? I have nothing to do anyway."

"Sure." Scott readily agreed. Then, he looked at Tessa expectantly. "Miss Reinhart, do you want to come with us?"

Hathaway also turned to look at Tessa when she heard that.

It was difficult for Tessa to refuse without coming off as impolite, so she could only nod her head in agreement.

Therefore, Scott took them to the hospital after lunch.

When they reached the VIP ward, it was just as Scott had said. Mateo's medical condition improved greatly, and he looked fine.

Although the years had left their marks on him, the refined temperament was engraved in Mateo's heart and soul.

Thus, he still looked like a noble-looking elder despite being sick and confined to bed rest.

Apart from Mateo, Scott's parents, Samuel Brooks and Eleanor Bourbon, were present too. Through them, one could see how Scott grew up so well, with their refined manners and courteous manner.

They were well-dressed for someone in their early 40s. But, perhaps because they made an effort to maintain their health, they looked like they were still in their 30s.

They were welcoming and gracious hosts when they saw Scott bringing guests over.

"Please, have some fruits." Eleanor handed the sliced fruits to Gregory with a kindly smile on her face.

Gregory smiled and thanked her sweetly.

"Thank you, Mrs. Brooks."

"Such a good boy." Eleanor's gaze softened even more at his manners.

At this moment, Scott also handed a peeled apple to Tessa. "This apple is a new variety imported from abroad. It's delightful. Please give it a try.”

"Thank you." Tessa thanked him and took the offered apple slice politely.

Meanwhile, Samuel and Eleanor caught sight of their interaction, and they felt that it might be a sign that their son might be interested in her.

That was because they had never seen Scott being this attentive with other girls before.

So, his actions naturally aroused their curiosity regarding Tessa.

Therefore, Eleanor took the initiative, accosted Tessa, and asked, "Miss Reinhart, what do you do?"

Tessa was slightly startled at the abrupt line of inquiry. However, she quickly recovered and said truthfully, "I'm also a violinist, but I'm merely a student. This is my teacher, Miss Hathaway."

She gestured toward Hathaway and introduced her to them politely.

When Samuel and Eleanor heard her answer, they were delighted.

A violinist? That's good. They share the same interests.

Due to this, the smile on Eleanor's face deepened as she had a good impression of Tessa. "Miss Reinhart, since you're Miss Hathaway's student, I'm sure you must be on par with Scott in terms of skills."

"Oh, no. I still have much to learn from Mr. Brooks," Tessa said modestly.

Even so, Samuel and Eleanor felt that the two would make a lovely couple.

At this moment, Gregory grabbed Tessa's hand and retorted eagerly, "Miss Tessa, you're not bad at all. You're amazing!"

She felt warmth swell in her heart as she heard his genuine compliments. "Thank you, Greg. I appreciate it."

As she spoke, she hugged him affectionately.

Eleanor smiled and tentatively prodded when she looked at their intimate interactions, "This little one is such a good child. Is he your relative?"

"No, it's my boyfriend's child." Scott, who was beside her, felt a little agonized when he heard Tessa's straightforward answer.

Of course, he knew Eleanor's intention in asking Tessa, but he also deliberately let her do as she pleased as he, himself, wanted to see how Tessa would answer such a question.

Meanwhile, Samuel and Eleanor were taken aback by Tessa's answer.

However, when they returned to their senses, Samuel and Eleanor instantly felt slightly disappointed.

Oh, she’s taken.

However, the two did not show it outwardly and still talked to Tessa courteously.

Whereas Hathaway, who was sitting on the side, saw through everything. However, she chose to maintain her silence and say nothing. At the same time, she was also worried about her

daughter's state of mind.

The only fortunate thing is that Tessa is already taken. So thankfully, we can avoid more bumps along the road with Kathleen as long as Tessa remains romantically unavailable.

Later, when Hathaway and Tessa noticed Mateo's flagging physical state, they offered to take their leave so he could rest.

Always Been Yours Chapter 507

The moment they decided to take their leave, Samuel and Eleanor continued playing their role as gracious hosts as they escorted them to the ward's entrance.

Before they could call for a taxi, Scott suggested, "Miss Hathaway, Miss Tessa, why don't I send you both back to the hotel?"

As he said that, he picked up the car keys that he had set aside.

Hathaway did not decline his kind gesture when she saw this.

On the other hand, Tessa held Gregory's hand and politely rejected him. "Thank you for your kind offer, Mr. Brooks, but I really shouldn't impose on your hospitality. Besides, Greg and I have other means of transportation available. I've already contacted my boyfriend's driver, and he'll come to pick us up momentarily."

When Scott heard that, his eyes dimmed in disappointment.

However, the expression on his face remained unchanged. Then, he said with a faint smile, "Then, I'll see you around."

"Yeah, see you." Tessa nodded.

Then, Scott drove Hathaway back to her hotel.

Meanwhile, Tessa and Greg had to wait for the driver, so they accompanied each other as they waited at the entrance of the hospital.

Soon, a black Maybach stopped in front of them.

"Miss Reinhart, Young Master Gregory, sorry for keeping you two waiting."

The driver got out of the car respectfully and opened the door for the two of them.

After Tessa thanked the driver, she carried Gregory into the car with her.

When the driver saw that the two had made themselves comfortable in the car, he asked, "Miss Reinhart, are we returning to Dynasty Gardens? Or do you have another destination in mind?"

"I'd like to visit my brother in his company."

As soon as she finished saying that, she gave the driver the address of Timothy's company.

The driver nodded agreeably and started the car.

When they arrived at Timothy's company, Tessa told the driver that he was free to go. Then, she took Gregory with her as they entered the company.

In the office, Timothy wore a black suit as he sat behind his desk while working on the documents on his desk, and he exuded an aura of a budding leader when he was focused on his work.

"President Reinhart, this is the document that you asked for."

Tessa handed the documents to Timothy as she pretended to be an employee.

However, Timothy immediately recognized her voice, and his head snapped up in surprise.

"Tess, what brings you here?"

"I thought of coming to see you, so I came," Tessa replied with a smile.

Gregory instantly raised his voice to make his presence known while he stood to the side, "Mr. Timothy, I'm here! I’m here to see you too!”

Timothy was overjoyed when he saw them.

Then, he beckoned Tessa to sit on the sofa next to him after he walked out from behind his desk.

After that, he served them water before he sat down and asked, "Tess, I heard that you went to see Miss Hathaway this afternoon. How was she?"

"Miss Hathaway is in good spirits." As soon as she said that, she roughly talked about her afternoon and Timothy would nod here and there while she described her day.

After that was done, the two chatted for a while before she urged him to finish his work.

Timothy didn't put up much of a fuss, after all, he also wanted to finish work early and go home with his sister.

Finally, he managed to go through all the documents just when it was time for him to get off work in the evening.

He picked up the car key on the table and walked toward Tessa. "Tess, you’ve been back for so long. Why don't you come home with me tonight?"

For a moment, Tessa was stunned. Then, she smiled and said, "You're right. Let's go home tonight."

As she said that, she turned to look at Gregory and said warmly, "Greg, I won't go back to your Daddy's place tonight. Do you want to ask your Daddy to come and pick you up?"

"No!" He shook his head and rejected that suggestion without thinking twice.

Then, he hugged her tightly and buttered her up, "Miss Tessa, I’ll follow you wherever you n

go-

As she looked at the familiar streetscape on her way back, she also felt that it was indeed not appropriate for her to not return home although she had been back in the country for some time now.

Besides, Timothy hasn't been home for so many days as well. I’m afraid that the furniture will be gathering dust by now.

Reality indeed turned out to be that way that she thought it would be.

When they returned to the apartment, the furniture was covered with a thin layer of dust, and there was nothing edible available in the kitchen as well.

Tessa, left with no choice, could only start delegating. "Tim, you’ll be doing the cleaning at home. While I will be going to the supermarket to buy some groceries for dinner."

Timothy nodded at her instructions. Then, he immediately started on the cleaning by sweeping away the dust that’s been gathering on the floor.

Gregory grabbed her hand and said happily, "Miss Tessa, I want to go to the supermarket with you too."

"Okay, you can come with me." Tessa smiled agreeably as she took her purse and went out with him.

When they entered the supermarket, she went straight to the fresh food aisle.

As she looked at the fresh vegetables around her, she lowered her head and asked him, "Greg, what do you want for dinner tonight?"

Always Been Yours Chapter 508

Gregory lifted his small head and said with a smile, "As long as you cook it, I won't be picky."

Tessa was overjoyed to hear this but couldn't help teasing, "Well, why don't we eat carrots, green bell peppers, and celery with fried pork tonight."

Gregory's frown deepened with every vegetable name that fell off her lips.

After a while, the little boy's delicate brows were furrowed into knots.

When she saw this, she couldn’t help laughing.

He knew that she was just teasing him the moment he heard her laughter.

"Miss Tessa!"

He stomped his feet in a huff, but he couldn't bear to say a single bad word about her, so he could only sulk in silence.

When she saw that he was in a snit, she quickly soothed him.

After a long while, she finally coaxed the little boy into showing her a smile again.

The two picked one item after another and ended up choosing quite a few things before pushing the shopping cart to checkout.

After Nicholas returned to Dynasty Gardens, he found that Tessa and Gregory weren't there, so he asked Andrew, "Where are Tessa and

Gregory?"

"Miss Reinhart and Young Master Gregory haven't returned," Andrew answered truthfully.

Nicholas frowned slightly as he took out his phone to contact her.

The call was instantly connected, but it was Gregory who answered the phone.

"Daddy."

"Where's Miss Tessa?"

"She's cooking in the kitchen. Mr. Timothy and

I are playing in the living room. By the way, Daddy, Mr. Timothy said that we're not going back tonight."

When Nicholas heard this, his face turned a little gloomy.

At this moment, he had figured out that Timothy was deliberately sabotaging him.

He gritted his teeth and restrained the sudden urge to punch a certain someone in the face as he said, "Don’t listen to Mr. Timothy. Whatever he says doesn't count."

To his surprise, Timothy's voice sounded from the phone.

"Nicholas, I don't like what you’re saying. What do you mean what I say doesn't count? You've occupied my sister for so many days. Shouldn't you be giving her back to me already?"

"You..."

Nicholas was so angered that he let out a sardonic snort.

When Timothy heard Nicholas' resigned tone, he proudly continued, "Ah, Nicholas, my sister's calling me to help, so I have to leave to go. I hope you have a pleasant meal tonight."

With that, he immediately hung up the phone.

Nicholas couldn't help but feel amused as he stared at his phone, although he was still rather peeved.

Finally, he put his phone away and strode out.

Andrew hurriedly chased after him when he saw Nicholas leaving and asked, "Master

Nicholas, what about dinner?"

"I won't be having it. Oh, and I won't be back tonight."

After he said that, he went straight to the garage without even looking back.

An exquisite black Bentley drove out of

Dynasty Gardens in less than a moment and headed straight for Tessa's apartment.

In the apartment, Gregory heard someone knocking on the door, so he happily went to open it.

"Daddy!"

Timothy wasn’t surprised to hear Gregory's excited voice.

He looked toward the entrance and saw

Nicholas walking in with Gregory in his arms, and he couldn’t help rolling his eyes. "Wow, talk about fast."

Nicholas only slightly raised his eyebrows in response as he took Gregory into the kitchen.

"You're here."

Tessa wasn't surprised to see him either because she knew that he would definitely come.

"Dinner will be ready in a while. You can play outside with Greg for a moment."

He nodded and walked out of the kitchen with Gregoiy.

Timothy grunted haughtily when he saw Nicholas reappear in the living room.

However, Nicholas was unbothcred by Timothy’s attitude. Instead, he walked over with Gregoiy and said nonchalantly, "Your sister said dinner will be ready in a while."

His purpose was to tell Timothy that his sister had cooked his portion too.

Naturally, Timothy immediately picked up on his unspoken words and felt like someone had landed a critical hit on him.

A short while later, she was done preparing the meal, so she called the three of them over for dinner.

At the table, Gregory praised her for cooking such delicious food.

The duo was happily enjoying their meal together.

As Nicholas took in the scene, his face unconsciously turned gentle at the heartwarming sight.

Then, he finally cast Timothy a sideways glance, raised his eyebrows, and asked, "Look. Does it matter whether we're doing this at my place or not?"

Always Been Yours Chapter 509

When Timothy saw the triumphant look in the man's eyes, he was rendered speechless and felt as though his heart was dealt a blow.

However, he wouldn't admit defeat like this, so he counterattacked. "There's still a difference. After all, this is my home. That's your home, and my sister is my family."

"Sooner or later, she’ll be part of my family. You should start learning to accept this fact."

Nicholas gave him a reality check with his words.

Although Timothy felt a little troubled, he said calmly, "But, my sister won't just abandon me like that."

After that, he looked at his sister with feigned obedience. "Tessa, you won't abandon me, will you?"

Nicholas turned to look at Tessa, too, as if he wanted an answer to Timothy's question as well.

Their squabble made her feel amused, but it also filled her heart with warmth.

"Oh, you two. You're both the most important people in my life, okay? Let's have a good meal," she said coaxingly as she wanted to end their dispute for her favor.

However, Timothy didn't want to end it like this, as he needed to prove his irreplaceable position in his sister’s heart in front of his brother-in-law.

"Tessa, you care about me the most, right? And you won't leave me in the future, right?"

He looked at his sister expectantly.

She was about to nod, but Nicholas' disgruntled voice rang out in the living room.

"You're already an adult, yet you’re still so clingy to your sister. Do those admirers in your university know about this?"

"What does being clingy to my sister have to do with them? Instead of saying that I'm clingy to my sister, aren't you the most clingy one? You came all the way to my house. Do the employees of your company know that you can't part with your girlfriend at all?"

"If your sister is willing, 1 wouldn’t mind letting everyone know."

"Shameless!"

"The feeling is mutual."

The two attacked one another with words as their swords and armor, and it seemed like it would be a never ending battle.

Meanwhile, Tessa could only watch on helplessly as two grown men started arguing like children.

She never knew that they would have such an immature side.

Gregory’s grumpy voice rang out like a clear bell just as she was thinking about how to advise them to a cease-fire.

"Miss Tessa likes me the most!"

After Gregory finished speaking, he stared expectantly at Tessa with starry eyes. "Miss Tessa, I’m right, aren't I? I’m your favorite."

"You're right. I do like you the most."

She found him so adorable that she couldn't help hugging and kissing him affectionately.

The sight of the duo being so affectionately intimate with each other utterly defeated Timothy and Nicholas. One could say that Gregory has won this round, barely lifting a finger.

After they finished their dinner, Timothy asked Nicholas to clean the dining table and kitchen together with him. He gave a reasonable reason and said, "My sister cooked, so we can't ask her to wash the dishes too."

As a result, the two men cleaned up the dirty kitchenware while Tessa played with Gregory in the living room.

From time to time, they could hear the sound of laughter from the kitchen.

As they listened to Gregory’s tinkling laughter and Tessa's melodious ones, they felt that they were blessed to be able to live such peaceful lives.

After the two men cleaned everything up, the four sat in the living room conversing with each other happily.

Without them realizing it, time passed by, and it was past 10.00 PM.

Timothy glanced at the time, raised his eyebrows at Nicholas, and said with a grin, "Nicholas, it's so late. Aren't you going back? I'm afraid there's not enough space for us to accommodate you."

Nicholas knew what he was playing at when he heard Timothy's teasing, so he answered calmly, "I can sleep with your sister tonight."

Tessa couldn't help being shy when she heard those words, despite this being the case lately.

However, the two men didn't notice this because they were up in each other's faces again.

Timothy countered, "If you sleep with my sister, where will Greg sleep?"

"Greg can sleep with you."

Nicholas didn't expect to have his suggestion refuted right after he said that.

"1 don't want to. 1 want to sleep with Miss Tessa."

Gregory hugged Tessa's waist tightly as he lifted his tiny head and said, "Miss Tessa, can I sleep with you? Please, Miss Tessa, please."

Tessa never had any resistance toward Gregory, to begin with, so she nodded in agreement.

"Of course, you can."

"Yeah! I knew Miss Tessa was the best."

He leaned forward happily and placed a kiss on her face.

That little peck on her cheek, although light, made her feel loved and cherished.

Always Been Yours Chapter 510

As Tessa hugged Gregory, she looked up and said with a smile, "It's settled then. You two will sleep in one room tonight while Gregory and I will sleep in the other."

The corners of Nicholas' mouth twitched.

Once again, he was sure that his son was his love rival.

However, all he could do was look helplessly at his son, who was all snuggled in her arms, and answered in resignation, "It’s fine. I'll sleep on the couch tonight."

Whatever the case was, he wouldn't sleep with Timothy.

Naturally, Timothy heard the disdain in Nicholas' tone and let out a soft snort. "As it happens, I don't want to sleep with you either."

Tessa suddenly felt a headache coming when she saw the two men about to go head-to-head with each other yet again.

Of course, she felt distressed for Nicholas too.

She glanced at the couch, which was on the shorter end, and persuaded, " rhe couch is too small, so you should sleep with Timothy tonight."

"It's fine."

Nicholas insisted on sleeping on the couch; thus, it left Tessa with no choice but to take Gregory to get ready for bed.

It was midnight and everyone was sound asleep.

That was the case with Tessa as she slept soundly with Gregory.

At this moment, the room door was slowly pushed open before a tall, dark shadow walked in.

Tessa wasn’t in a deep sleep, so she was awakened by the minuscule noise.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw a dark shadow approaching, which caught her off

guard and caused her to reflexively ask in fear, "Who is it?"

"It’s me."

Nicholas responded, then squeezed onto the bed without saying a word.

Her frightened heart eased when she heard the familiar voice and caught a whiff of his familiar scent.

She stared at the man beside her in astonishment and asked, "Why are you here?"

"The couch outside is too small, and it's uncomfortable," he answered truthfully.

Then, she watched as he suddenly leaned into her ear and added in a low and charming voice, "And I couldn't fall asleep without you."

Tessa's heart filled with sweetness when she heard Nicholas' moving statement.

Then, while she gently hugged Gregory, she scooted inward and answered in a lowered

voice, "Get some rest."

Nicholas decisively rested beside Tessa when he heard her unspoken invitation, then took advantage of the situation to hold her in his arms.

"Let's sleep."

His voice was barely above a whisper as he lowered his head and kissed her forehead.

She nodded, placed one arm around Nicholas' waist, and closed her eyes to rest.

Under the moonlight, the two held each other and slept while Gregory slept sweetly beside them. The heartwarming scene looked like it was out of an oil painting,

The next day, when Gregory woke up and saw his father hogging Tessa, it was no surprise that the child was livid.

However, he was obedient enough not to disturb Nicholas and Tessa but simply glared at his father with his arms crossed over his chest.

Bad Daddy. He said he would sleep on the couch by himself, but he snatched Miss Tessa while I was asleep.

Perhaps Gregory’s gaze was too piercing because Nicholas woke up after a while.

"Bad Daddy!" Gregory immediately pouted and complained in a soft voice when he saw that Nicholas was awake.

Unfortunately, Nicholas was not bothered by Gregory's complaints and looked down at Tessa, who was still asleep.

As she slept soundly, she probably had a good dream; as she curled up the corners of her pink lips in her sleep, the sight was so lovely that he couldn't help letting out a small smile as his gaze watched her with adoration.

Then, he slowly got out of bed while carrying Gregory away, lest the little guy woke Tessa up.

After they finished washing up, the father and son walked out of the room.

In the living room, Timothy had woken up earlier to make breakfast for the family.

When he saw Nicholas emerging from his sister's room with Gregory in his arms, Timothy said derisively, "I thought someone said they’re sleeping on the couch, but it turns out they couldn’t suffer the tiniest inconvenience."

"It's mainly because your sister feels sorry for me." Nicholas sat on the couch with Gregory in his lap as he replied arrogantly.

Timothy couldn't refute such a statement because it sounded like Tessa; therefore, he was defeated this round.

In the end, he simply ignored Nicholas, called Gregory to his side, and started playing with the little one.

Nicholas didn't mind being snubbed as he decided to check the news on the Internet

through his phone.

After a while, Tessa woke up and felt relieved seeing that her brother and Nicholas were sitting harmoniously on the couch instead of taking jabs at each other.
