Always Been Yours Chapter 1421-“All of you are talking about these matters merely days after Kieran has died. It’s not unreasonable to assume that you have some sort of an evil plan, you know.” Stefania shot the people around her a fierce glare. Both Adam and Joseph looked rather uneasy after hearing her words. “What is your wife talking about, Tobias?”

Adam and Joseph, being the younger ones, felt like they were in no position to speak to their senior’s wife, so they looked directly to Tobias instead. Tobias had always felt disappointed toward the family’s approach to such matters, and he didn’t bother to conceal his thoughts.

“I think my wife is right. We invited you guys over to talk about my son’s funeral, yet you guys keep focusing on the topic of the company. It’s hard for us not to assume that you guys have ulterior motives,” he uttered icily.

Many of the people seemed rather uneasy after that. Even Adam and Joseph looked rather pale. “That’s nonsense! Are you not going to do anything about this, Old Master Sawyer?” Adam barked before turning to look at Remus.

Remus shot Adam a cold glare before lecturing him. “Shut up. You’re not acting like the wise senior one would expect you to be, so you deserve to receive those comments,” Remus muttered. Meanwhile, Tessa held Gordon in her arms while she watched all the arguments happening in the family.

She felt rather dejected to see the way they were interacting. Nicholas must find it hard to deal with a family like this. She couldn’t help but reach out to hold Nicholas’ hand at that thought. Nicholas instinctively lowered his gaze to look at his hand when he felt some warmth against his skin. “What is it?” he asked gently.

“It’s nothing,” Tessa replied while shaking her head. Despite this, Nicholas could see Tessa’s sympathy for him in her eyes, and he seemed to soften a little after that. Nicholas squeezed Tessa’s hand before he turned back to the crowd with his icy, hard expression.

“I didn’t just invite you here to talk about Kieran’s funeral. I’d also like to talk about his accident,” he stated before pausing for a short while. “Someone meddled with the brakes of the car he was driving on the day of his accident. The person who did this is from our company,” he announced.

Everyone in the crowd except Adam and Joseph was utterly shocked to hear this. “Someone from our company, huh?” “Did you find something, Nicholas?” People from Adam and Joseph’s immediate families.

started to look rather uneasy at this point. Adam and Joseph, in particular, seemed rather nervous. Joseph was the first to speak up in the end. “How do you know that the person who’s involved is one of our people, Nicholas?”

Nicholas’ gaze darkened as he slowly turned to look at Joseph. “Well, that’s because the car that Kieran took was supposed to belong to me. I always install security systems in all my cars so that it would send out an alert whenever outsiders get close to the vehicle.

However, ever since the incident, my car has never made any reports of a breach of security. So, I’m sure that it’s someone on the inside who’s involved with this. I continued down this pathway to realize more issues along the way.”

The look in Nicholas’ eyes was filled with fury when he next glanced in Joseph’s direction. Joseph felt himself panicking at this point. Did this brat find something?

Stefania immediately continued pressing Nicholas for answers after that. “Did you manage to find the culprit who harmed your brother, Nicholas?” Remus and Tobias didn’t say much, but they all had their eyes fixed on Nicholas. Tessa shot him a worried glance as well.

Nicholas lowered his gaze as he spoke. “I have found the culprit,” he announced. “Who is it?” Both Remus and Tobias were stunned at this point, while both Adam and Joseph started to feel rather uneasy.

The rest of the people threw curious glances in Nicholas’ direction. Meanwhile, Nicholas looked at the crowd’s expression for a while before he spoke at a slow pace. “Well, according to the security footage, the one who messed with the car was one of the security guards in our company, but… Nicholas paused for the sake of dramatic effect as he shifted his icy glance to look at Joseph.

“My staff managed to find out that the same security guard was in contact with Joseph’s assistant, Emmet Fiddler, before the accident. How are you going to explain this, Joseph?” Joseph’s face fell upon hearing the man’s words.

Always Been Yours Chapter 1422-The rest of the people were stunned as well. “Master Joseph?” Joseph, you…” There was clear suspicion in everyone’s voice. Even Remus scrutinized Joseph. Joseph felt himself panicking at the sight of everyone’s gazes.

However, he was a man of experience-Nicholas might have shocked him with this sudden attack, but it only took him a while to calm down. Joseph then decided that he would take a more aggressive approach in return.

Joseph widened his eyes and glared at Nicholas before barking at him. “What are you trying to say here? Are you suggesting that my assistant tried to hurt your brother?”

Nicholas remained calm even when he saw Joseph trying to deny the truth. “Well, why are you in such a rush to deny it? I haven’t made any accusations, Nicholas replied with a smirk. In other words, he was implying that Joseph seemed a little too defensive.

The rest of the people exchanged glances after hearing Nicholas’ words. They seemed rather speechless for a while, and most of them ended up turning to look at Remus. Meanwhile, Remus was staring at the ground. There was a dark look on his face, but no one could guess what was running through his mind.

Stefania, on the other hand, couldn’t contain her emotions after hearing the conversation. She turned to Joseph with a look of fury in her eyes.

“Why? Why would you do that? You watched Kieran grow up!” she said behind gritted teeth. Joseph felt a mixture of shame and rage. “You don’t have any evidence of your claims. Stop making accusations!” he cried.

“I’m sure Nicholas wouldn’t make groundless statements. Judging by what he said, it’s clear. that this has got something to do with you.” Stefania had complete trust in her son’s words. Joseph, on the other hand, was furious when he heard Stefania.

However, he knew that there was no point in arguing with her, so he turned to Nicholas instead. “Well, are you saying that I might be involved in this matter simply because my assistant spoke to that security guard?” he asked.

“Why are you so anxious if you’re not involved, Granduncle Joseph? Nicholas shot him at provocative glare. Before Joseph had a chance to explain himself, Nicholas continued, “Well, I’m glad that you’re anxious because it just shows that you’re guilty. Since that’s the case, I’ll just put the accusation forward now. This was all you, Nicholas hissed.

Joseph’s expression sank after that. He knew that Nicholas would only speak in such a firm manner because Nicholas had evidence that could be used against him. However, Joseph wasn’t prepared to give in just yet. “You’re speaking without evidence. How could you just claim that I’m guilty? Joseph uttered.

“Well, I have the evidence, of course. This accident might seem rather sudden, but there’s a clear reason behind it,’ Nicholas explained. Edward was already standing by his side, and Edward took action after receiving Nicholas’ signal. Edward stepped forward with some files before he handed a copy to every single person in the room. They seemed confused at first, but their expressions turned serious after they read them.

Even Remus was filled with shock when he first read the file. His initial shock was soon replaced by a powerful rage. ‘Are these things true, Adam and Joseph?” He questioned them through gritted teeth.

Both Adam and Joseph were feeling guilty, yet they stubbornly insisted on denying their involvement. “You know us well, Remus. We might be greedy, but we wouldn’t do something to harm the company’s interest.” Adam tried to highlight his character flaws just to calm Remus down a little. Joseph chipped in as well.

“Well, if all of this is true, then we probably ruined the company years ago. The annual reports would have indicated some internal issues by now. Yet, years have passed, and no issues have surfaced. This just shows that the data here is inaccurate, Joseph suggested.

There seemed to be some truth in his words, and Remus shot Nicholas an uncertain look after hearing Joseph’s words. What’s going on? Remus raised an eyebrow.

Nicholas gave Remus a reassuring gaze before he turned back to glare at Joseph and Adam. “Well, you were good at patching one issue up by creating another minor issue elsewhere. That, along with a few fake accounts and someone who can cover your ass in the headquarters… Of course, no one realized anything over the years.”

Always Been Yours Chapter 1423-The look on both Joseph and Adam’s faces fell after they heard Nicholas, while the rest of the family gasped in surprise. Joseph and Adam could no longer contain their rage when they saw the way the others were looking at them.

“You shouldn’t accuse us like that, Nicholas. You’re speaking without evidence! The information you gave us doesn’t tell us anything! You have no proof!” Joseph hissed.

“How do you know I don’t have proof? Well, since you guys are being so stubborn, I’ll fulfill your wishes.” Nicholas shot them a threatening glare before he glanced in Edward’s direction. Edward nodded and showcased all of the evidence he had found abroad. “These are the receipts from the branches in Filisburg that show the transactions that were made.”

Once Edward produced the evidence, Joseph and Adam knew that they had been exposed. Their faces turned pale when they realized they could no longer stick to their narrative. They had stood tall at first, but now they hunched their backs in guilt. Remus and the rest of the family members were furious to see the evidence.

“Do you guys still treat me as an elder brother, Joseph and Adam? What are you guys trying to do here? Are you guys trying to ruin the Sawyer Family’s centuries’ worth of reputation?’ Remus was huffing with anger. His eyes were filled with rage and disappointment as he stared at his two younger brothers.

The rest of the family members were also displeased with what Joseph and Adam had done, but they didn’t voice out as they knew where they stood in the family. Both Joseph and Adam were taken aback by Remus’ harsh words-it had been a while since they saw their brother so angry. At that moment, they steeled in their resolve to not admit their involvement in these matters.

Both of them exchanged glances before Adam, who was better at talking, spoke up. “Nicholas, it’s true that there are some inconsistencies in the accounts of the business abroad. However, the issue isn’t as severe as you portray them to be.

I know you’ve been dissatisfied with Joseph and me for not working collaboratively with the headquarters, but you shouldn’t use such horrible ways to frame us for doing something wrong.” Adam admitted to the issues with the accounts, but he made it seem as if Nicholas had tempered with the accounts just to accuse them.

Nicholas scoffed when he heard their words. “Fine. Let’s assume that I made all of this up just to frame both of you. Are you saying that your trades with the Golden Triangle are also something I made up to frame you?

What about the act of smuggling illegal products? Did I make that up as well? By the way, I caught the security guard who messed with my car. Should I bring him over to talk to you guys?” Nicholas asked.

Joseph and Adam had been unfazed after hearing Nicholas’ first few sentences, but their faces fell after hearing Nicholas’ last sentence. Nicholas didn’t want to give them any time to come up with a new excuse, so he ordered Edward to bring the guard over immediately.

Soon enough, a tall and skinny man was escorted into the living hall. This was the first time the security guard had been put in such a situation, and his legs were trembling with fear. He felt chills running down his entire body when he saw Joseph’s threatening glare.

Nicholas noticed their interaction, but he didn’t seem too bothered by it. “Tell me-who’s the one who ordered you around? I suggest you think your answers through before responding to me.”

Nicholas’ final sentence was a warning to the security guard. The security guard looked at Joseph and Nicholas as firmness surfaced in his eyes.

“My son is sick, and I need a large sum of money. So, when Joseph’s assistant came to me and told me to work according to his orders, I went along with it as he offered to save my son,” the security guard explained. Joseph barked at the security guard immediately after that. “Nonsense! Why would I tell someone to approach you?” It was obvious that Joseph. didn’t want to admit to his faults.

However, Joseph didn’t have much of a choice. as the police had reached the house by then. It turned out that Nicholas had contacted the police at the start of the family meeting.

“Joseph Sawyer, you’re under arrest for attempted homicide and smuggling of illegal goods. Please come with us for an investigation,” the police announced. After showing Joseph his badge, the police stepped forward to bring Joseph away.

Always Been Yours Chapter 1424-When Joseph saw the police, he knew that Nicholas had made thorough preparations for the sake of their family meeting. However, Joseph didn’t want to give in just like that, so he turned to Adam for support.

Before Joseph could say much, Adam hastily tried to clear his name. “I don’t know about all of this. I don’t have anything to do with this at all, Adam uttered.

Joseph widened his eyes in disbelief. “Adam, you- “You should go off with the police for now, Joseph. If you’re innocent, I’ll make sure to find a way to get you out of there.” Adam was trying to give his brother a hint.

Nicholas could tell what Adam was trying to say, and he curled his lips up with amusement. Nicholas didn’t have to say much because the police did the job for him. “Adam Sawyer, you’re under arrest for embezzlement of public funds, so you should come with us as well.”

Adam froze after hearing the police’s words. He hadn’t expected himself to be captured as well. “Did you think I’d let you go so easily?” Nicholas’ icy voice came from behind him.

It was then that Joseph and Adam understood that they had completely underestimated their enemies. Things were way worse than they had expected them to be. They were no longer as calm as before and started to beg Remus for mercy.

“We made a mistake, Remus. We let the money get to our heads.” “We’ve worked hard while we were abroad, Remus. Please let us go this once….

While Joseph and Adam pleaded for mercy, the rest of their family members began to speak up as well. “My dad is getting old, Uncle Remus. He wouldn’t be able to handle it if he was sent to jail,” one of their sons said.

The more they pleaded for mercy, the angrier Remus felt. Hel clenched his fists as he glared at his two brothers. ‘I’ll only ask you guys one question. Is it true that you guys were trying to hurt Nicholas? Did you guys end up killing Kieran?!”

A look of hesitation formed on both Adam and Joseph’s faces when they heard Remus’ words. Remus no longer needed an answer from them -he understood everything from the look on their faces.

He was filled with disappointment and rage at that point. Tessa could tell that the old man didn’t feel too well, so she quickly muttered to him, “You should watch your health, Grandpa. The doctor mentioned that you shouldn’t get too emotional.”

Remus didn’t say much, but he took Tessa’s advice and tried his best to calm himself down. He knew that he couldn’t fall ill at a time like this when the Sawyer Family was already plagued with so many issues.

Nicholas spoke in a sarcastic tone when he heard the comments coming from Adam and Joseph’s families. “Is there any purpose in apologizing at this point? My brother has already lost his life. Do you think an apology would suffice?”

The people no longer dared to plead for mercy after that. Stefania agreed with Nicholas’ words as well. Her eyes were bloodshot as she glared at Adam and Joseph. “So, my son’s life is not as valuable as yours, huh? He knew you guys as his granduncles ever since he was a child. Both Joseph and Adam were too ashamed to even lift their heads after that. They simply allowed the police to bring them away while the rest of the people from their families shifted about in a rather self-conscious and awkward manner.

Even the rest of the family members who weren’t involved seemed oddly quiet. After all, most of them had gained some benefits from Adam and Joseph in the past. The thought of that made them rather uneasy especially when they glanced in Nicholas’ direction. They all knew that they had been. greedy in their ways throughout the years.

The noise in the living room had died down and was replaced by pin-drop silence. Everyone was afraid to speak as they were worried that they would be the ones accused of something next. Nicholas knew exactly what these people were thinking when he saw how silent they had become.

He narrowed his eyes before speaking in a stern voice. “I can forget about everything that happened in the past, but if anyone tries anything in the future, I’m going to make sure you pay for it!” He shot a fierce glare in the direction of Adam and Joseph’s family members, and the families knew that he was giving them a warning.

They were all more than eager to obey Nicholas at that point. Meanwhile, the people from the other families didn’t even dare to imagine themselves doing anything bad after they saw the way Nicholas had punished Adam and Joseph.

Always Been Yours Chapter 1425-The meeting ended soon after that, and everyone seemed like they were in a hurry to leave the house. Soon enough, Remus’ family was the only one left in the large Sawyer Residence.

Stefania sat on the couch, still fuming from what had happened earlier. “I can’t believe they would do such a thing to their younger generations. They’re just too much!” she hissed through gritted teeth.

Tessa was worried that Stefania would get too worked up, so she hurried over to comfort Stefania. “You should be more mindful of your health. There’s no need to get so angry now that they’ve been captured.

They’re about to pay for what they did,” Tessa uttered. However, Stefania only seemed more emotional after hearing Tessa’s words. “What’s the use of capturing them? They can’t bring Kieran back.” She sighed. She sounded like she was close to tears.

Tessa didn’t know how to comfort Stefania at that point-she felt saddened by what Stefania said as well. The best Tessa could do then was to quietly stay by Stefania’s side. When Nicholas sensed the sorrow in the two women, he surprised them with a shocking piece of information. “Actually… Kieran’s still alive.”

Both Tessa and Stefania were too stunned to speak for a while, but Stefania was the first to react. She turned to stare at him. “Are you serious? Is your brother still alive?” Both Remus and Tessa shifted their gazes to Nicholas as well. “Yeah. He’s still alive.” Nicholas nodded..

Remus, who was a smart man, was the first to understand the whole situation. “So, you brothers teamed up to plan this whole thing.. huh?” Remus seemed rather displeased as he glanced at Nicholas.

Nicholas didn’t reject Remus’ hypothesis. “We didn’t exactly plan it all out, but we just went along with the situation,” he explained. “What’s the plan? What’s going on here?” Stefania asked anxiously.

Nicholas explained everything from the start. “The accident wasn’t staged. We managed to find Kieran after we sent out men to search for him that day, but Kieran was in bad shape, so I told someone to secretly send Kieran to the hospital for emergency treatment. You know what happened after that,’ he uttered.

“So… We were all worrying for nothing?” she was furious.

Remus seemed rather angry as well. Even Tobias felt the need to lecture Nicholas. “Howl could both of you keep such a huge secret to yourselves? Your grandpa and your mom were so worried about Kieran. Some of us nearly fainted,” he muttered.

Nicholas remained calm in the face of his family members’ annoyance. “We didn’t tell you anything as we wanted Granduncle Joseph and Adam to lower their guards. I doubt I would’ve been able to catch them red-handed if they hadn’t seen the genuine emotions that came from Mom and Grandpa.”

“Well, that’s still no excuse to hide things from us.” Stefania shot Nicholas an angry look. Tessa, on the other hand, was more empathic about Nicholas’ decision to keep this a secret.

She took one glance at the sour looks on all the elders’ faces before she decided that she should help her husband and tried to change the topic. “You mentioned that Kieran was in bad shape. How is he now? Where is he? Can we visit him?” she asked.

As expected, Stefania and the rest of the family were distracted by Tessa’s question. They all started asking to see Kieran.

Nicholas agreed to this suggestion, and he ordered Edward to get the car. Soon enough, the whole family was on the way to the hospital where Kieran was staying. Kieran had already been awake for a few days by then, and he was starting to regain his energy and high spirits.

When Stefania entered the room, she found the young man playing with his phone on his bed. Kieran greeted his parents excitedly when he saw them. “Hey Mom, hey Dad. You guys are here!” he cheered. However, what he got in response wasn’t their care but a firm slap from his mother.

She couldn’t contain the rage that she felt when she thought about how agonized she had been after the news of Kieran’s death. The thought of herself crying while Kieran was playing some mobile games in bed made her furious.

“You brat. Were you trying to scare me? Why didn’t you tell us anything if you’re still alive? Do you know how sad your father, your grandfather, and I were? We struggled so much the past few days because we thought you were dead,” she cried.

Kieran felt a mixture of guilt and sadness when he heard his mother. He hunched his shoulders while pouting and gave Stefania a pitiful look. “I’m injured. Why are you still hitting me?” “Well, you deserve to be hit. Let’s see if you have the guts to lie to me after this!” she hissed.

Always Been Yours Chapter 1426-Stefania gave Kieran another whack as she vented her grievances. He whined, feeling wronged, “But I had no say in this! I didn’t want to hide this, but Nicholas told me to fake my death. So, he’s the one you should be hitting, not me!”

“You just did whatever he told you to do, huh? Are you really that obedient?” she went on and playfully gave him a few more slaps for good measure.

Their interaction tickled Tessa, and the corner of Nicholas’ lips also turned slightly upwards into an indiscernible smile. After a while, they stopped fooling around and Gregory took this opportunity to dash toward Kieran.

He gripped Kieran’s thigh tightly as he raised his head and said in a cherubic voice, “Uncle Kieran, welcome back. Don’t get into any more accidents after this. You really gave me a scare this time.”

“Don’t worry. It won’t happen again,” Kieran assured tenderly as he ruffled Gregory’s dark hair. “Nicholas said that you were seriously injured. How are you feeling now? Tessa asked in concern.

The elders also turned to him, looking at him with worry in their eyes. So, he chuckled and waved away their concerns, saying nonchalantly, “I’m alright now, but I just need to stay in the hospital a few more days for observation.”

“That’s good. I’m glad that you’re alright. Still, take your time and rest well in the hospital in the next few days,” Remus advised solemnly. Kieran knew that his grandfather was merely. looking out for him, so he gave him an obedient nod.

It was then that Tessa thought of Timothy. “By the way, Timothy was distraught that you were involved in an accident. I’ll give him a call right now,” she said and took out her phone to give Timothy a call. Alas, the person who picked up the call was Sabrina.

Although Tessa felt that it was a shame that she couldn’t tell Timothy the excellent news herself, she briefly told Sabrina about the situation and promptly hung up the phone.

Timothy was at a loss for words after listening to the tale. Yet, the moment he laid his eyes on Kieran, who was alive and kicking, he felt that a great stone had been lifted off his chest. Meanwhile, Kieran waved at him happily. “Tessa told me that you cried tears of sadness when you heard that I was dead.”

“That’s not true. As we all know from movies, villains don’t die that easily, and I know that you’ll survive longer than that,’ Timothy said, hurriedly denying that he had cried. Nonetheless, Kieran’s return was a joy to everyone, and they stayed in his ward until later evening.

Eventually, the time came when they had to leave, and Stefania decided, saying, ‘I’m staying in the hospital tonight to look after Kieran. The rest of you can go home.”

“I’m staying behind with you, then.” Tobias came to the same decision after hearing about hers. Tessa tried to dissuade them, worried that. staying the night at the hospital would tire them out, “Why don’t I stay behind? Both of your haven’t had a good rest in days.”

“It’s okay. You can return home with Nicholas. Speaking of rest, both of you are the ones who haven’t been sleeping well these days. I can see those eyebags all the way from here,” Stefania teased, turning down her offer.

Soon, they reached Dynasty Gardens, where Tessa initially wanted Timothy and Sabrina to stay for the night. However, they insisted on returning, so she didn’t force the matter.

When they were back in the living room, Nicholas asked the servant to help Gregory wash up for the night before he urged Tessa, “You should get ready for bed, too. It’s been days since you had a good sleep.”

“What about you?” Tessa asked, turning to look at him. He wanted to tell her that he was going to the study, but she had already read his mind before he could even give voice to his thoughts.

She grabbed his hand and shot him a reprimanding glare. “You’re not allowed to go to the study. Come to bed with me.”

Her bossy attitude made him chuckle softly as he conceded to her mother henning. Therefore, he obediently washed up as they lay in each other’s arms on the bed.

Tessa wasn’t feeling quite so sleepy at the moment, so she started chatting idly with him. “Thank God, Kieran is fine. Otherwise, I’m. worried that Mom might not be able to handle the blow so well,” she began. Then, the annoyance caught up to her as she was also kept in the dark about his plans, so she smacked his chest lightly.

“Also, you kept such an important thing from mom and dad because you’re worried that they’ll give your plan away. I can understand that logic. But you even kept me in the dark! Am I a cause for concern as well?”

“I didn’t keep it from you. I told you about it,” he said, catching her fist in his hand. She immediately froze as she tilted her head and gave him a puzzled look. “When did you tell me?”

“Do you remember that time when you lamented that Kieran didn’t have a chance to get married? I told you that he’ll have the chance for that.”

His answer immediately reminded her that such a conversation did happen between them, and she said with a huff of amusement, ‘I thought you were merely comforting yourself at that time, so I didn’t take you seriously!”
