Selena got up, hopping comically on one foot as she made her way toward the kitchen. “What did you make? It smells amazing,” she asked, leaning against the doorframe.

Aaron, startled, turned to see her standing there with bright, eager eyes.

His brow furrowed deeply.

He set down the spatula and strode over, lifting her up effortlessly and placing her in a chair by the dining table. “Stay put and stop getting in my way,” he ordered, bracing one hand on the chair and leaning in close to her face.

After a brief pause, he gave her a quick kiss on the lips before returning to the kitchen.

Selena blinked, stunned.
