Rania glanced around to make sure the floor was empty, then leaned in so close her breath brushed his ear.

“Of course,” she whispered. “At the border between the eastern and central regions, they built a massive Divine Punishment Hall. It’s one of their most important strongholds in this realm.”

“Five celestial venerables are stationed there. Their power is unfathomable. They oversee every major faction, send out emissaries carrying Divine Oracles, collect tribute… and something else. Something strange.”

Jared leaned slightly closer, keeping his tone casual. “Something unusual?”

A chill slid beneath his ribs, but he only raised his brows in mild, almost boyish curiosity.

Rania pressed her lips together. “Hmm…” Her eyes drifted upward as she searched her memory. She rubbed the space between her brows. “I don’t know the details. Father warned me that digging into celestial affairs never ends well.”
